No offense taken, of course. And you are probably right. I was not really thinking things out before I replied. Sure, whats this person doing opening a 2nd location when he has another location that is floundering in the muck of bad showmanship?

Any idea, yet, what projector is actually running the print?

Mike is right. Let me sweeten the deal. The first person to get a full picture set of the Princess II sent in for posting gets a free Film-Tech T shirt. These pics must include the "lobby", the "auditorium" (preferably at least 2 angles) and multiple shots of the "projection booth".

I would have booked my flight to Chicago already, except that my theater opens Star Wars Episode 2 and Santa vs. the Snowman in less than two weeks. Neither print is here yet. Nothing like prepping a 32-reel print under pressure.

I'll sweeten Brad's deal with a copy of the entire public Cinematour.com website on CD-ROM (you know, so you don't have to wait for all of the pictures to download) if you copy the pictures to me for use on Cinematour. And no, this disc is not available to the general public, so don't bombard me with requests, please.

Ok, I'll sweeten the deal even further. Not only will the person who sends in the picture set receive a Film-Tech T shirt, but I will also send that person a real brand new roll of splicing tape so they can give it to the Princess II theater. It will be a great addition for them, but whoever gives it to them will probably have to explain what it is.

You mean they may actually have a splicer? They seem like they would have a stapler to splice film.

Splice the film? No, I believe that they unwind each reel onto the floor, run it from the floor through the projector and then back onto the floor again they do not need to splice because this "Self Rewinding" system that they use enables them to just stop the show and thread the next reel from the floor. They were thinking about upgrading and using those Airborne express bins to hold the film but they decided that the cost was too prohibitive.

Brad--be sure to send a roll of the nastiest opaque white tape that you can find. The kind that doesn't peel and leaves goo on the film when you try. This would be perfect for the Princess II.

I still think they use duct tape for splicing. (easier to spot when breaking down)

I'll throw in one of those embossed aluminum plaques with the THX logo. The plaque is currently covering up a spot on the carpet where the cat is obsessed with digging a hole for some reason, but I'm sure I can find something to replace it with. I will clean the hairball residue off it prior to shipping.

A buddy of mine leased the Fowler Theater in Fowler Indiana in 1980. I got the job of teaching him do make change-overs and fixing the audio amplifier. Man, what a contraption --- the insulation had rotted off the point to point wiring between the tube sockets, etc!! If I remember the booth had BX-80's and Perless Magnarcs.

Tell them you are from some magazine (make up a name) and you would like to do a feature article & photo spread.
