Same here...no e-mail after 8 hours. I'm sure it is an overwhelming volume on the server side.

Guess a whole lot of people are tired of the interruptions at home!

I registered yesterday morning, and got the e-mail confirmation within an hour. [Smile]

We're on the NY state list, and although the telemarketing calls have almost gone away, "opinion surveys" still call several times per week. [Mad]

I got registered this morning (Saturday) It only took 5 minutes.

Now, I have to go clean out the SPAM that I got overnight. There are at least 50 of them.

Lets kill the spammers!

I registered Friday evening, and the e-mails came back at about 4:30 Sunday morning. Very easy...just click on the link in the e-mail and you are all done.

We've had the 'Telephone Preference Service' for years here in the UK. It's basically the same idea as you guys have been discussing. It's free to join and the best bit is that technically anyone who makes sales calls to you is comitting an offence, and can be prosecuted. If you can get enough details the TPS will follow it up. Great idea, I used to be plagued with fitted kitchen and window sales calls, but no more! Now if only there was a way to stop email spam, all junk mail and god botherers knocking at my door I'd be a very happy man!

I registered with ‘Mailing Preference Service’ Like Pete’s TPS the service is very efficient and lasts for 5 years to be completely rid of nuisance telesales and junk mail. For the UK the telephone number is: 0207 2913 310

Pete,

Get yourself a nice plastic sign made:No Door Salesman. Thank You. It really does work! [Smile]

Pete, our ISP started using Postini a couple of weeks ago. It's great. Only two spams have gotten through to my inbox since they started using the service! Prior to this, I was getting a couple hundred a week.

Bernard, I've registered with the mail preference service too, unfortunately it doesn't stop the 'delivered by hand' crap. A large, noisy border collie is useful for getting rid of the window salesmen ( I already have windows, can't they see that?)

I'll check that link out Tim, ta.

I just registered and received my confirmation e-mail back in about 60 sec. Of course midnight on a Sunday night may have something to do with that. Maybe those of you that can't get confirmed should try late night hours and you will have better luck.

I received this from my Brother-in-law and I pass this on to all of you.

This is to all of you that signed up for the "do not call" law.

This week I received a card in the mail that looked alright-- It
said "vote for your favorite cola - Pepsi or Coke- and receive a
complementary 12 pack" It didn't look suspicious--but for some reason I kept looking at it.

THEN I FOUND IT !! At the bottom of the card there is a VERY small statement. It is SO small it is hard to read--but here is what it says---- "By completing this form, you agree that sponsors and co-sponsors of this offer may telephone you , even if your number is found on a do not call registry or list "

This REALLY upset me and I just wanted all my friends to be aware of this way to get around the "do not call" law !! Just think how many people will send this in and their do not call registry will be NO GOOD!! The company's name is MARKET SOLUTION. Please send this to all yourfriends that signed up for " do not call" . I think this is just one of what we will get in the future--so READ EVERYTHING before you SIGN AND SEND !!
