Cycle World did a shootout earlier this year, and the 6R was either 1st or 2nd. They were ranting and raving over the engine. Of course all this is mute point, I'm not taking the thing to Daytona to race it after all. LOL.. Josh, Remember that Cycle World sells ads. They are very biased, or so most in the m/c world feel, toward their advertisers. At any rate, you're right, the point is moot. You should, however, take your bike to the track to see what it feels like riding around on the banking... Suweeeet! Keep the rubber side down... or the rubber on , as Phil might say... Like a cheap whore, it's a dirty bitch! What's worse however, it has always been a gas guzzler and there are many problems with engine life... most having to be rebuilt around the 30,000 to 40,000 miles in autos.  |  IP: Logged Jennifer Pan THE JEN! They are street legal, but are intended more for a base platform for a racing bike. I believe the R6 is around 120-125 at the crank on the point of origin build sheets. Factor in around 10-15% drive loss loss for any vehicle. Yamaha did this with the R7 years ago. Sportbikes today are getting to the point that they simply are death machine on wheels to the young gun who is new to the road and who has seen all the latest 'stunter' vids.. I've been there and done that... stunting and riding like I stole it, but somewhere over the course of the last several years, I grew out of that stage. I'm too old to be laid up in the hospital and road rash just doesn't look that good in the mirror.. if you survive to see it.
