i hate hate hate daylight "saving" time. i keep my watch on standard time all year round and just do the math, as a little personal protest. tonight i watched it change to 1:00 and smirked to myself.
the government should not be micromanaging our schedules. yeah, i think people get up too late and stay up too late, but legislating time anomalies is an underhanded way of dealing with it.
on page 3 of phil's link i found the following:
quote: Daylight Saving Time also saves a small amount of energy in the morning when we rise. Studies show that 70 percent of all Americans rise prior to 7 a.m. during the workweek. During the summer months, sunrise is very early in the morning, so most people will wake after the sun rises. Because the sun is up, we will turn on fewer lights in our homes. Thus, we actually use less energy in the morning.
voila! a thoroughly specious line of reasoning, complete with irrelevant statistics. people sure are easy to brainwash.
