Definitely has to be that shower-on tanner stuff. One of my friends used to do the shower-on tanner at this tanning place in town. She stopped when I said it kind of made her look like she had liver disease. LOTR, 11 for 11. Pretty amazing. The fantasy film Oscars jinx has finally been broken. But it is not too surprising LOTR won. Hollywood will award Oscars to films that bring in a ton of money. Did they produce special commercials for the Oscar show? Billy Crystal is a great MC, what a difference to the poor and misantrophic Steve Martin performance. To me, Blake Edwards' speech was the highlight of the evening, but felt that they had a poor choice of film clips (although the barrows scene is one of my favourites - but where was Herbert Lom?). From a certain moment it was clear that the Academy would dump everything they had on LOTR. Giving MASTER AND COMMANDER an award for cinematography was extremely unjust to SEABISCUIT's great photography, but otherwise it might have gone to LOTR too (where no cinematography exists except through impressive compositing). Better not to say a word about the songs, Brad said it all. The Hepburn tribute, the Blake Edwards tribute, the Will Farrell/Jack Black bit, and Adrien Brody were the best moments. The opening montage was OK, but Billy Crystal seemed to be on autopilot a lot of the time. My favorite part of the entire show however was when Michael Moore got stomped into the ground during the opening sequence. That cracked me up.  |  IP: Logged
