Dave, I stand corrected. Guess I've been out of the classroom too long and my memory does not serve me as well as it once did. [Eek!] The electors will indeed meet on December 13th this year.

You are also correct in citing individual state law for guidance of the electors in each state. This is a throwback to the Constitutional dictum that the states set their own voting qualifications (barring any amendments such as the women's vote and the 18 year old vote).

Jeremy- sorry to confuse you on this. You are not alone. The vast majority of Americans are just as confused. I sometimes wonder why it has to be this way. Guess that 200 plus years of tradition is hard to overcome. [Roll Eyes]

I'll do Adam and Tim one better--white, male, over 30, landowners, as the framers originally intended. [evil]

Paul you beat me to it. Yes indeed, it was landowners only who originally voted. The reason was not to separate the rich from the poor, but rather instead to prevent those who did not hold a stake in the advancement of our country from electing enmasse a candidate that would raid the treasury at thier behest.

I cannot by forum rule post any further on this content as it would almost certainly lead to a political argument, not my intention at all.

and by the way... John, you are way very cool man! I love a good challenge to my egocentric ways. Ask anyone here, I know everything and am god. So it is nice to be put in my place every once in a while without getting my head bit off in the process.

Ciao

Dave

But wait, I'm still confused!! Just kidding, this seems like it could start leaning toward an argument...now if I could only find that thread-locking key that I stole when Brad wasnt looking. [Wink]
