Now that we're discussing independents....

One of my favorite slogans is the one used by the Avon Cinema in Providence, RI: "Avon Cinema - Choice of the Discerning"

At the time when I worked there, the slogan for the Williamsburg Theatre in Williamsburg, VA. was "The best in fine arts cinema, foreign films, and independent productions." I thought it was a bit too wordy. I don't know if they still use that one.

One of the nations first repertory theatres, The Kentucky Theatre in Lexington, had the slogan:

A World of Films

Until I pointed out their bad grammar. Then it was changed to:

A World of Film

It's grammatically awkward. In this case, FILM is not an object. They meant to speak of FILM as an entity, a "world"... not, "Well, we've got all these rolls of film for ya here.."
