Really Powerful Subwoofers Back when we ran 2001 outdoors in Lincoln Park in Chicago Servo Drive kindly donated the use of 10 of these subs. If you look at the Cinema Borealis photos in the picture warehouse the first photo shown is of the booth and some high rise apartments about 1/4 mile from where the screen was located in photos 3 and 4. We were able to rattle the glass up on the 14th floor from that distance when we had pink noise up for balancing! Apartment dwellers came down to the booth to see what was happenning and to complain. One guy brought his doberman down with him that was also obviously irritated at the noise. They are capable of 137db spl with just 800 watts input and thay can tolerate that on a long time basis. Running ten of them at once is another story!!!!!!!!! From a sound quality standpoint back then the subs didn't have very fast transient capability because they use an actual motor to drive the cone but thay may have gotten better since then. I wouldn't use them in a cinema situation without doing some serious listening tests. They are basically indestructable though. Running ten of them, yeah, I get the picture I have a db calculator to work this out with on the pc. Is it for sale? In 2005 dollars though that probably at least double that 1989 price, Converted to Euro currency you might as well forget it. Too expensive for sure, alot more than a simple ride on a Russian rocket. Now that I look at the specs the frequency sure comes down and the SPL sure goes up in a big hurry and with 10 woofers all powered up I guess I was lucky that I didn't break any windows over on those buildings. Several of those folks from that building were REALLY pissed at the noise level.
