He seems pretty nice and obviously from the book he knows a little about calculus.
He's a great guy. Definitely one of the top three profs I ever had (along with Dave Parnas and Alan Wassyng who designed the safety & monitoring systems for the Darlington Nuclear facility). I'd say he does indeed know a bit about Calculus. He's a Fellow of the Fields Institute and they even named their library after him.

He used to for some courses. I'm not sure if he's still teaching ungrad anymore though.

Now that I think of it, I actually used his calculus text in high school too.
