Very rarely did I purchase a laser that didnt have "sparkle" in it. I guess it was dust particles, but it resembles small sparkles. Also, I see the occasional dancing lines running down the picture. Some of the discs spun so fast that it literally threw the machine out of alignment. I finally gave up on the format. Also when I start building the “THX Baffle Wall” I’ll be putting the a few extra improvements into the design. Making a newer sub bass speaker with a few extra sub bass speakers I have, a huge one well not as big as, “DONNA” http://www.royaldevice.com/custom.htm by building a sealed enclosure with just an outlet via a 16 foot tube. I have a Pioneer CLD-D0503 (which looks similar to his Pioneer CLD-2950) and a recent requisiton of a DENON-LA2500, which also looks like the Pioneer (wonder if Pioneer made the unit for DENON..) ...just too bad he wasn't using all of this sound setup with a DLP 16.9 digital projector with a microperf masked screen in a room big enough to put a school bus in(maybe, that is in the works for Andy....), instead of that 19inch TV. But hey, I bet it sounds good! That would be my guess, that Pioneer made the model for Denon. I remember going to this link before, just forgot the address. Notice that your machine, which looks like mine, is the dual media PAL/NTSC version, but yours was manufactured in '93, whereas mine is of the '94 vintage. Side question: do you know where one can find flourscent displays for these things? Long links suck. Hi-Vision LD Really long links suck more. Supposedly one of the better low-highend players. It did a good job cleaning up the picture, but nothing close to what DVD can do. I cant say I've had one defective DVD...even low end players will put out a better picture that my old 3080 ever could. Laser would be nice to keep for some of the lasers that arent out on DVD (Twilight Zone the movie comes to mind) but eventually, the laser will die.  |  IP: Logged Joe Redifer You need a beating today Posts: 12859 From: Denver, Colorado Registered: May 99 posted 10-18-2005 12:08 AM                        I hate LaserDisc. I used to think it was cool, but that was back when I was a freakin' 'tard. The picture is extremely grainy, no true 16:9, no true 24p, hell no progressive scan at all. And to top it off the movie must change sides at least once per movie. Unacceptable! Some movies even require disc changes. LaserDisc isn't even capable of true S-video since it is composite video recorded directly to the analog disc. So with a standard CAV movie, you were flipping and swapping disc constantly. There's a nice little 2/6 Barton for sale at http://barton.theatreorgans.com/selectedad.asp?ID=14120 with a 16' Flute which will make it less difficult for the neighbors to listen, although all the Barton organs tended to cut through quite nicely in all the ranks. You might want to hold out until you can find one with a 16' Diaphone, though, & you certainly need to install some urns first. It's got a kinura rank. You'll like the kinura.
