Received PM and not sure if my Email will reach you so I decided to post the same massage hear.
Hallo there by now most of the Film-Tech crew have seen my home cinema set-up.
The THX baffle wall that I plan to construct when the time is right, should take me about two weeks with such matters like cost, once that is dealt with the trail and error will start, once built and if it doesn’t work to my expectations tearing it down and restarting will be a messy affair, so this is why I have planed to firstly start of with a sound stage extending the entire width of the front, the depth of it will be the same of the JBL sub bass, the height will be around ½ inc to an 1inc above the SONY monitor.
I will have addition support holding it place, placed at each side of the SONY monitor, and then the positioning of the three-screen JBL control 5 will be calculated with the centre in the usual position, with angles of pointing it down to the sweet spot in the room, once I’ve checked it out and have determined it will be fixed into position with some small pieces of wood screwed down into the stage on each side of the JBL, with a wedge piece keeping it at the chosen angle.
Selecting the positions of the left and right screen-channels will be critical, were it’s voicing of panned sounds along with captivating my attention as well or anyone for that matter, fixing them will be same as with the centre, except they will have a slight toe in as I will be experimenting not just with (Wideband Pink Noise) but with some very complex films one that comes to mind is “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.”
Once done the construction of the vertical THX baffle wall will start, with cutting plasterboard to size one for each section where it will be addressed to and the frame work to support each section as well, I’ll need a small access way or opening that will be screwed into the baffle wall, so if I needed to get to any one of the JBL’s the access way will be placed in-between the left and centre and right and centre with room to at lest get my arms in there.
(Rockwool) will be placed within it along the walls and the baffle as well, and just thinking that I’m sensitive to that stuff so I’ll take caution with it.
So it will take a few weeks, where someone else may do it with a few days, no rush.
Anyway thank you for showing interest, as for your home cinema, start of again with matching loudspeakers for the front, and depending on the size of the room, high end bookshelf models are recommended, one there far easy to install, and multiple surrounds.
