One summer when I was working in it, my dad made friends with another concessionaire who was Greek and had a Gyro stand. He said the proper way to pronounce it is "hero". It sounds nothing like it is spelled. So there ya go. They are really good if made correctly and really bad if not. The Greek guy's gyros were the best I have ever had to this day. Most places use watered down cucumber sauce (the white sauce that is on it) or cook the lamb way too long. Then it is dry and has no flavor. The secret is fresh cold vegetables, soft bread, good creamy cucumber sauce and moist cooked lamb. Anything else will taste like shoe leather. We got so hooked on them that when we got to a new festival I always made sure to find his stand and we had a steady diet of them all week.  |  IP: Logged Bernard Acero Film Handler Posts: 15 From: Vallejo, Ca. Please do. You even got to see it before the legendary Brad Miller (who does not have the POWER to see the movie this early). Brad is jealous. You should use this against him somehow and take over Film-Tech.  |  IP: Logged Gordon McLeod Film God Posts: 9532 From: Toronto Ontario Canada Registered: Jun 99 posted 05-13-2005 11:57 AM                     The sauce is called tzatziki and here is a receipe for it though i prefer it with a bit more garlic Tzatziki Sauce Yogurt Cucumber Sauce 2 Small Cucumbers, Peeled, Seeded & Diced 1 1/4 cup Yogurt 2 Tbls Olive oil Juice of 1 lemon 4 Garlic cloves, minced 1 Tbls Fresh dill, chopped White pepper Salt 1) Combine yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and pepper in a bowl. Cover and refrigerate for one hour. 2) Blend yogurt mixture with a whip until smooth. 3) Dry cucumbers by patting with paper towels. 4) Add Cucumbers and dill to yogurt mixture. 4) Salt and pepper to taste. 5) Serve with Gyros or as a dipping sauce.  |  IP: Logged Bernard Acero Film Handler Posts: 15 From: Vallejo, Ca. It really wasn't *that* messy before, but someone made the "How do you walk in here?" crack, so I decided to tidy up. It was probably just the usual sort of busy shop look you usually see, but I guess I got guilted out.
