It looks like the ceiling caved in... was there a tornado? or do you have ferrets that trash your place as well?

Well, there *is* a big hole in the floor that is convenient when cleaning up.

We don't have ferrets in coastal areas, we have nutria, an incredibly prolific invasive species.

Say 'Hi!', Mr. Nutria!

Or rather, we have nutria for now, since they will probably soon be hunted to brink of extinction like the redfish, as the state of Louisiana has discovered that the solution to the nutria population problem is to tell people to Eat Mo' Nutria.

Actually "gyros" is pronounced exactly like it is spelled: "γύρος". In English spelling, it could be given as "yeeros".
Only that it's not an English word. This may come as a shocking revelation: some people in other parts of the world actually speak different languages which are spelled differently and sometimes, like in this case, even use different letters. From which our Latin letters are derived. In this particular case, the strange and foreign language is called "ελληνικά", Hellenic, more commonly known in English as "Greek".
BTW, "γύρος" means circle, winding, rotation, because the meat is cooked on a rotating skewer. It is not a plural form. It is just "gyros", not one "gyro" - many "gyros".
Greek gyros is typically pork. The lamb version is more a Turkish and Arabian thing (Muslims are theoretically not allowed to eat pork) where it is called "döner" or "shawarma".

William - the question is too obvious not to ask: are nutrias very nutritious?

Gyros (pronounced YEE-ros) are quite tasty.

If the grease is dripping off of it, then their is not much grease left on it, right?!? I wouldn't eat a gyro every day, but they are a nice treat once in a while.

As for the before-and-after photos...

WTF?!?

My booth is messy, and I'll admit that. But JESUS, what happened in there? I feel bad the way my booth looks sometimes (I'm sure it wouldn't pass the Grand Poobah test), but SHIT. My booth is clean enough to walk through, and that's not something I would even say about the after photos I just saw...

I have old posters laying about and a dust bunny or three, but this place is something that the CDC should know about...

Thhats one of my main dislikes about them.... no grease.... the meat seems strange without it. Anyway, one needs at least some grease on that sort of thing so it makes it all the way through with out that dreaded clogging effect [Eek!]

All Ampex tape transports have been moved to Wing 'C' of the Oxidation Research Unit (ORU).

(Preparing for the WAR) At a birthday party last weekend, went to the neighborhood park/jungle gym and ran around shooting each other. BB guns are awesome, I got shot on the forehead... that was pretty sweet. I was armed with a rifle and a hand gun in my back pocket... they couldn't see that coming... I really want to try paint balling someday though.

We played in teams of 3 and 1 person was keeping score of who was taking over the goal base. The timer would be set at 5 minutes and the goal was for at least one team member to make it to the base without getting hit. If they did get hit they would have to go back to their original teams station and then try to get to the goal again. There was also a reload station where we weren't allowed to shoot anyone who was reloading.

An extremely fun game and a really nice workout. Too bad some little kids kept getting on the jungle gym. Even though we could have scared them off by shooting at them but their parents were there...

..the more I look at that one machine in the pictures, it does look like an AMPEX 350, yet with different kind of NAB adapters on the spindles. - thx Monte

Well, if the populations of some less enlightened nations will insist on using non-standard and inefficient languages, I guess they're entitled to make life difficult for themselves. There are a few obsessives around who still manufacture their own 9.5mm film stock, too.

Jennifer I sure hope you guys at least used Eye Protection if yer blastin each other with the Plastic pellet BB guns. "You'll Shoot your eye out!!"

BTW, if memory serves there are some Paint ball ranges up here in the Prescott area if you feel like driving up here out of the Valley of the Sun. Common up, I'll give ya tour of my booth. [Smile]

Alan, some of us did use some type of eye protection. But I wasn't fortunate to have any. In the event of when I do go paint balling I'll definitely get some protection for that.

Actually, in this particular case, that language is very standard and efficient, because it's Greek which had a massive influence on all other European languages.
But you are very right in principle: Look at the European Union. There are some less enlightened nations which insist on using non-standard and inefficient measurement and monetary systems to make life for themselves and all other more difficult than necessary.

That's a real photo. I've seen even worse types of impalement.. nasty stuff, no matter how you look at it...

Please... WEAR EYE protection when shooting BB guns. Air rifles,of any sort, can be deadly, especially when there are multiple persons involved in a 'playtime' sport. I'd hate to hear that you are unable to persue your love of art because you can no longer see out of your left eye... or that you can't hear due to having a BB rupture your eardrum...

Get out into Paintball.. it's much more fun... just wear the proper headgear/eay protection and call it a day.. [Smile]
