We are regular and happy customers of his company in Riverside. It's great for us, because it's very close to some of our theaters in the region and they have tons of parts for many different types of equipment in stock. They are also very knowledgeable, so if we have time sensitive part needs, I can phone in the order and just describe which part I need, and they always know which part and which version I mean.

The Dreamcatcher was cheapen and "improved" by the folks that knock it into bankruptcy...one fatal mistake was putting a limit screw in the framing assembly to "improve" picture steadyness but did not allow enough framing in an emergency...which happen during a presentation of "potential" customers during a ShoWest screening [Roll Eyes]

The rights and drawings for the projector was available at the bankruptcy auction but Dick did not persue in retaining them. Dick Niccum is one of the great guys [Cool]

The SUV gate is similar to the British BTH SUPA projector of the early 1950's

The trailer on the right is a normal trailer. The thing on the left is the ridiculously large rolling stock we have right now. This is how much I love it. [Mad]

Maybe it will help to ease your suffering to know that some other countries have much more rolling stock instead of slides plus rolling stock. In Germany, there is often 20 minutes, sometimes even 30, in extreme cases 40 minutes of rolling stock - and as a projectionist you have to edit that every week since usually 6-10 or so of the ads change every week.

Those small 1-inch diameter hubs (or worse, tight winds with NO core) used for trailers and rolling stock are an issue too. The "core set" imparted to the film by such a small winding diameter results in focus issues until the film eventually "relaxes" wound into a bigger roll on a reel or platter.

Good practice is to always wind film onto cores of the largest possible diameter, hopefully at least 3-inches (75mm). Every roll of raw stock print film comes with a new 3-inch core, so there is no shortage of larger cores in circulation.
