Boy do I remember doing quite a few of those 7 to 14 day twinning projects....run a wall in the middle and don't worry which way the existing seating radius had you looking more to the new wall than the screen [puke]

The theater I started working at was twined by Forest Bay. They went out of biz. Didn't do a really bad job, but had no concept of real sound isolation between houses, etc. Like most companies, they did as good a job as you wanted to pay.

I beleive the Oglethorpe Cinemas that was in our only mall at the time, Oglethorpe Mall, was twinned in the late 70's early 80's. I was once a one screen, but by the time I saw 101 Dalmations in it, it was a twin. I don't remember much about it, though my friend Dale could probably tell you the date/year it was twinned, what played before/after, etc.

OMG, Darryl! Let me tell ya, a huge tornado, passing as close by as it did to us, is the most God-awful noise you can ever hear. The power and the LF changes in air pressure - like everyone says, it sounds like a super freight-train, but even that is a weak comparison. You feel it in your very being.

It sounds like death.

When it passed by us, it scared me shitless and I dropped the flashlight I was holding for Mom. I thought we were goners.

The houses across the street from us were.

OK...I guess we're back to the tornado thingie... Living in Michigan while growing up, we sure had our share of tornados and they scared the hell outta me!

From my bio on page 23 of the "Who Are You Thread":
