The ride lasts about 20 seconds but I understand it's the most intense 20 seconds of your whole life. I still prefer wooden coasters to todays modern ones. Some of the wooden coaster structures are in themselves incredible wonders..... each also has its own creaks and groans thrown in as though its talking to you. Fastest Coasters Site Approximately 5 minuites from my home here in Utah we have a very old Theme park called Lagoon. It opened up in the late 1800's and today is a huge very popular place. The 107 year old Herschell Spillman Carousel and the 1921 wooden roller coaster still remain. The front of the wooden coaster and a great majority of the park was destroyed in a big fire back in 1953. The carousel was saved by fireman pouring a constant stream of water over the top of it... it survived but most of the park did not. It was rebuilt bigger and better and they seem to add a new high tech ride to it every year. If you're in this area its worth a visit . I've enjoyed not only coasters, but bungee jumps, sling-shots, barf rides, etc. THE ONLY rides I cannot stand (AND WILL NOT RIDE) are those that move one backwards and loop or corkscrew. I get really disorientated and become a dizzy bitch! HA! I agree with Mark about the wooden coasters... they are my favorite as well. While there may be other woods (HA!) that are bigger, faster, etc, "Colossus" at Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA is my favorite. Mike is correct in naming that coaster in my pic... but as cool as it looks... I DON'T have the balls to ride it. While that girl pee'd her pants, I'd shit mine! (I probably would have ridden it my younger days, but the stupidity of my youth has FINALLY given way to common sense and now want to live a little longer...)  |  IP: Logged Steve Guttag We forgot the crackers Gromit!!! Pictures of the Grizzly The loops, corkscrews, and even most drops don't bother me much...though being afraid of heights, the drops do give me the willies...but if there was no excitement...where would the "thrill" be? The Grizzly doesn't have any of those...it is just beats the livin Q$%#@% out of you. It also has a part that makes you think it is going to decapitate you too. They have not one, but two big wood coasters -- Tremors and Timber Terror. Both were excellent. My favorite wood coaster is the Twister II at Elitch Gardens, in Denver. It's fairly new but has the classic look & feel. Then after all of the fun, we would buzz down to SLC for chicken at Harmons up on 13th E and Sugarhouse, and catch some movies later on. Then would get home around 2am from all of this fun. Also, you when you walk past the front gates, you see the plaques of the history of LAGOON - originated by L.A.Goon, the creator of the amusement park.
