Very sad. Prejudice and intolerance still live on, killing the human spirit in ways big and small.
Most progressive companies today recognize the value of a diverse workforce, and that there is diversity among their loyal customers:
Kodak Diversity
Kodak Pride
quote: At Kodak's 2005 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, CEO Antonio Perez said, "We will continue to develop a winning and inclusive culture, in which all employees can contribute their best ideas and capabilities. Different perspectives and vigorous debate are critical to developing the best solutions for our increasingly diverse base of customers around the world."
The statement exemplifies Kodak's commitment to diversity, including the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees. The Winning & Inclusive Culture (WIC) is a strategy for cultural transformation that includes everyone at the Eastman Kodak Company. The strategy is defined by continuous learning and the celebration of the differences we all bring to the workplace.
However, cultural transformation is a journey. Kodak's senior-level management supports the WIC initiative by enacting concrete policies that support the initiative.
Senior management set the tone with a Zero Tolerance Policy and changes to Kodak's EOE Policy to include LGBT employees. Education is also an important aspect of the journey towards changing the culture. Leadership training includes a segment on diversity training. In the Advocates program, employees participate in an entire day of training on LGBT workplace issues. A Kodak employee resource group, Lambda, educates employees and managers regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employee workplace issues. Kodak Global Diversity Office is a resource to ensure diversity and inclusion are integrated into all aspects of the business. Kodak also believes there is a solid business case for diversity. As Perez points out, diversity helps Kodak develop solutions for its diverse base of customers. As part of Kodak's leadership training, the Kodak Global Diversity Office educates managers about the importance of diversity for business. The training explains that success in global expansion depends on a corporation's ability to understand global cultures and values. It teaches managers that a diverse workforce is more capable of creating innovative products and services that meet the needs of a global customer.
Kodak GLBT Recognition
quote: At Kodak, diversity includes everyone. To be successful we need our business to reflect our employees, customers, and suppliers. Kodak is fortunate to have many allies in the community to help us in our journey. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) helps the company understand the LGBT community's needs.
Kodak's LGBT recognition includes:
Ranked # 1 Employer for LGBT employees by DiversityInc Employee Resource Group Of The Year award to Kodak's Lambda Network from Out&Equal Sustained 100% rating on the HRC Corporate Equality Index (CEI) since the inception
Kodak Pride Pictures
quote: Taking Great Pride Pictures
Getting ready for Pride events? From picnics to parades, photograph your fondest pride moments. Here are some tips for taking great pride pictures.
