That being said, the TV is probably on anywhere from 0-5 hours a week (it really does vary) and more than 90% of it is from a DVD. I am currently hooked on Penn and Teller's BULLSHIT series. But I don't have any of the "premium channels" like Showtime, HBO, or Cinemax. Which of these would be worth adding to the standard cable package I have? I saw one episode. Too bad I refuse to pay for TV programming. If I did, I'm sure I'd watch every episode of Bullshit and show it to everyone I know. Spent more time listening to talk radio than anything else. Now that my wife and I bought a house, she watches it more than me. We don't spend much time together as it is, and I refuse to sit in front of TV when I am home. I use it too much for background noise. I have the local news on now. Don't ask me what was ON the news as I was reading the forum instead. I go to sleep with the TV on. In high school, it was a sort of companion to which to fall asleep (thanks to that Sleep feature!) and it was a small bit of the outside world I could let in to my room. Soon thereafter, it was the radio that provided all those things. Now, I find many of my own thoughts, inspirations, ideas, etc. to be sufficient "background noise" in what I wish were an otherwise quiet world. I don't consider myself old (not yet, darnit, I'm only 28 ... and a half), but sometimes it feels like I am, what with all the hustle-and-bustle in my everyday world that seems to drown me out. An hour to myself, in the quiet, is a wonderful sanctuary. That's when my artistic side gets to peek out. I watched last night's broadcast of Scrubs (a great DVD discovery for me!) and wasn't too horribly repulsed by commercials and whatnot. I know, I made the breakthrough! You still won't catch me tuning in to "Fear Factor: Second Cousins", though!  |  IP: Logged Jennifer Pan THE JEN!
