Matt, When I was in Changchun, which is a city of about 8 million people, I only saw one theater. It was a single screen in the middle of other businesses. I took pictures, but the TSA stole my camera that trip. It was an older, about 300 seat single. The projectors were an older Chinese brand, and they had a CP-50 I think. I could not find any other theaters there, which is surprising because film is their main industry in that city.
I have not seen a theater here in Shen Zhen. I just asked my friend and she is new to this city and doesn't know where any are.
People talk about Pirated DVD's, but think about it, a city of 8 million people and only one screen. I am sure there are more, but they aren't that common. I watched Spiderman2 there and we had to bring in our own food and drinks. They didn't sell concessions.
Here you go, a handfull of the movies I bought the other night. The shop is supposed to have a copy of "little man" for me tonight! Are the film studios losing money because I bought these? I don't buy or rent movies when I am in the States.

Later, Rick
