It was a novel idea at the time, but only for snapshot pict taking . Small enough for carrying in your shirt pocket - was the marketing plan - for sudden photo taking. I recently had to deal with some of those things and they are a bitch and a half to do anything with. Imagine a "Viewmaster" disk about 2-1/2 inches in diameter. The frames are small. Yes, about the size of a 16mm film frame. It takes special equipment to print them and most photo processing labs don't have it. Many never did from the start. There was a special adapter to hold and rotate the disk and a special lens to do the enlargement. Many labs only bought the holder and used their existing lenses. Nowadays, it's like pulling teeth to find a good film processing lab, let alone one that can still print disks. Since they have plastic hubs, they are hell to scan at home. I have tried it. I finally was able to scan images off them but not without fooling around for several hours just to figure it out. http://www.gdargaud.net/Photo/KodakDiskScan.html Whoever invented the Kodak Disk should be drawn and quartered.
