Yeah, I quit buying Buicks and golfballs because of this fiasco. I don't even know what companies used to sponsor him. Golf is for pussies, except for the real men who walk the 18 holes. Yes, I said hole and pussy, even a reference to balls, in the same paragraph!!! [thumbsup]

His endorsement contracts most likely include "appropriate conduct" clauses that state he can't engage in behavior that might reflect negatively on the sponsors and their products. In other words, he has probably technically (and significantly) violated the terms of those contracts by his conduct.

Jim is right. It's a package deal. You can't have the fame and money unless you're willing to deal with the media. Tom Hanks seems to have done it for decades without getting into trouble. It's possible, but for some the temptation is just too great.

Doubtful. Nike doesn't portray a squeaky clean, family image in their marketing. They promote athletics and competition. Tiger was with them because he is the best golfer ever, not because he goes to church every week and is committed to monogamy. Kobe and A-Rod are doing just fine.

Chad: You're kidding, right? Ever heard of the "Bible Belt?" I would be money there are thousands of people in that part of the country already who have sworn they'll never buy any product with Tiger's name associated with it. Kobe and A-Rod were "bad boys" before they got into bed with Nike. Tiger had a "fall from grace." There's a big difference.

One day the world will realise that males are male by nature and that monogamy is an un-natural state for the male of the species homo-erectus. Whether modern society likes it or not, this is the "natural" behavior of male physiology and it's intent is to ensure the propagation of the species.

(Most) Males react to visual stimuli, hence the auto-erection process when a male sees a naked female. And don't the ladies know this. This is not wrong, rude, crude or foul. It is nature at work.

As for Tigger (not a misspelling- he likes to bounce, just like Tigger) , cut the guy some slack. I defy any male in his position to not be tempted by the offerings that he was no doubt presented with. He is a male after all and if I was manacled to that thing he's married to, hell, I'd be out looking for a better model myself.

Come to Australia Tigger- we will vote you as Prime Minister, give you all the product endorsements you want, we will name a beer after you, give you a tv show and men here will praise you on high because you achieved what males are naturally designed to do.

He shouldn't have gotten married then. Or, if he wanted to sow his wild oats he should've gotten divorced. Any guy who can't "rein himself in" should just not make that commitment. Apparently his solemn promise isn't worth a putter in a pothole.

I guess Tigger should have thought about all that before he got married and spent years crafting his public image and signing endorsement deals.

There's almost no similarity between the Tigger and Letterman situations in my mind, aside from the fact they both cheated on their wives.

Looks like that'll be a while...his web site now says he's taking an "indefinite break" from golf.
