I'm religious myself. I just stated a fact, that a lot of people who ARE religious will now have a far lower opinion of T. Woods and be less likely to be swayed by ad campaigns featuring him. However, I have a big problem with hypocrisy and I see a lot of that going hand in hand with the self righteous indignation being displayed by so many over topics like that of Tiger Woods recent publicized activities. Why is Tiger Woods' personal life such media fodder right now? Yeah, he screwed up and he is paying the price by losing his endorsements (and I wouldn't want my business attached to him right now either) and maybe his marriage, but what business is that of ours? I was raised going to church and have attended various churches for most of my life. I used to put certain people in the church up on pedestals in my mind. Then I would see those same "righteous people" (or so I thought) leave their wives for other women. The biggest lesson I learned from that was that everybody fails and we all make mistakes. We are all a big mess inside. Some just hide it better than others. Those people are not perfect and should not be treated as such in my mind. That is the very nature of humanity. We are all flawed. I no longer raise people to that high of a standard anymore. Everytime I have done that I was later disappointed in their behavior in some way. I just wish the media would move on already. It must be a slow news month. Let's face it, the media (and people in general) love to see someone with a squeaky clean image such as his brought down. Sad to say, Fox (which I watch a lot of) is probably the absolute worst at this kind of "journalism". A story like this would have exploded (for a while, anyway) on most any celebrity. Even if most details weren't true, some mags would have made stuff up. What amazed me was how much coverage was given this story before the marital issues came up. Anyone else takes out a fire hydrant, even most celebs, and it's a yawner headline on a slow news day. In the case of Tiger, the reporters were immediately talking about potential criminal charges... for going off the road and killing a water faucet. And... watch for an hour and you'd see 4 stories, all with different accounts about how his wife acted. Possibly what contributed to the journalistic explosion here, is that some reporters are acting like they knew Tiger wasn't as squeeky clean as he appeared, yet nobody seemed to want to do a Woodward and Bernstein on him. He took the top off the can by wrecking his car... and oh, by the way... did you know about his 14 "blue collar" girlfriends?... and the texts and the TV interviews (well, Tiger won't talk, but here are all these people coming out of the woodwork)!!!!!!! This law firm specializes in suppressing dirt on celebrities. The National Enquirer wanted to publish a story about Woods' infidelities a couple years ago, asked Tiger for comment, Tiger referred the issue to these lawyers, lawyers successfully threatened Enquirer with all kinds of lawsuits etc. if they published the story. Story was suppressed. He made millions off of being in the public eye, playing a game and hawking products (asking the public to trust him.) Why should he expect any level of privacy now? He was willing to put himself in the public eye for profit, why should he expect differently now? He chose to be a golfer, he chose to be a paid spokesman, he chose to be in the public eye.
