According to the US government themselves, they had full clearance to kill Bin Laden unless he surrendered at which point they were to take him alive. I don't know what the actual order was, of course.

Haven't read every post so sorry if this has already been said, but I read an article that said the Seals were under orders to assume Osama was booby trapped if they found him with clothes on and were given orders to strike. If they had found him naked, he might have made it out alive (yeah right).

The guy was a casualty of war, a war he started. It was not "murder". It's no different than if an allied general were killed.

And Michael Moore made a point last night that the world tried the Nazis after WWII...he was pretty outspoken about not taking him alive.

He did say that Obama will get to the bottom of a cover-up if there was one in this case.

I used to like Michael Moore. [Roll Eyes]

But remember, every suicide bomber appears unarmed until it's too late to do anything about it.

Just read what kind of tragedy can befall our troops through an act of compassion. No more American lives needed to be put in greater danger for that SOB just to appease a faction of the population.

Yeah, I'm sure the president consults with Michael Moore before he decides anything important. Also, Barbra Streisand.

Superman is actually going to give up his American citizenship in an upcoming issue.

Tom this true I did read that the other day. I think the issue was released this week but could be wrong. He has a disagreement with the government not sure what it is. But since I grew up in the 0's Superman will always be red, white and blue through and through to me!

Couldn't say it better. The guy played in a rough game and he got what was coming to him. Truth is, no one really will ever know what it was like to be those SEALS at that moment. At that point, not only are you following orders but I'm sure instinct as well. I have every bit of faith in their judgement to take down that wretched scumbag.

Considering he is responsible for the deaths of thousands, I think the punishment was just.
