The lamp houses were Peerless Magnarcs, but they said Strong Cinearc on them. Twenty minute changeovers on Simplex E-7s with Peerless Magnarcs. Got there early to inspect the print - it opened for just the two days on my Wednesday-Thursday shift. Every single sprocket on the non-soundtrack side was ripped - right out of the shipping cans. The manager got to see me have a nervous meltdown, but I got it to run all the way through! Both nights! When the guy who had trained me heard about it, he couldn't stop laughing. Christie console with a Century "C" projector and the original Christie platter. The drive-in ran family films from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and then XXX porn on weekends when there was no snow on the ground. The theatre was owned by the same man who then owned the Athena in Athens Ohio, where I was a college student. I would work the Athena in the winter when the drive-in was closed. What was interesting, even though this was well after the movie came out, and I think it was actually already on VHS and DVD, tons of people still came and watched it.  |  IP: Logged Robert E. It was in 1950 at the State Theatre in Pomona, California. You expect me to remember that? I was 17. It was a Sunday, and back in the day we used to run a slightly different programme on a Sunday to the rest of the week, often bringing back big hits from the previous 6 months for one-off screenings. It was VERY successful in our tourist town during the summer months. So on this Sunday early in 1992 i'm supposed to screen 'Terminator 2' but instead I thread up the usual film that's screening in that slot Thurs to Sat, which was 'Point Break'. So the pre-show and trailers run through fine, and then the changeover to the feature (we had dual projectors as we were on 6000ft spools). As soon as the Carolco logo hits the screen - rather than Largo Entertainment - I realise my error! Lights back up to half, sound back to non-sync. Mad rush to de-thread, and re-thread in record time. I think I was back on-screen in about 90 seconds. All the while my dad's in the box office downstairs and i'm hoping he doesn't notice....  |  IP: Logged Michael Hickl Film Handler Posts: 3 From: Littleton, CO USA Registered: Apr 2013 posted 10-13-2013 06:41 PM                     My First 35mm Change over experience was Bee Movie out of the back of an Isuzu Box truck. We were doing a rolling roadshow out in a park. This was the first time I was in charge of setting up the screen, measuring the correct distance for the lens I was using, maneuvering the truck into position and then setup the sound. The change over was totally manual with 2 different light switches to change over douser and sound. (I'm not counting all the amateur 8mm and 16mm screenings I did as a kid.) First changeover I ever did was during a screening of REAR WINDOW -- thanks to Scott Norwood.
