You know you're a projectionist when...

...you hear the term "brain" and immediately think about what's in the middle of a platter rather than what's between your ears.

...you know a brain wrap isn't some sort of fashionable new head band.

Either the Jackson or the Hatke is what triggers my old memories. Either would be really neat. I have both on-the-shelf so if I could hack the phone, it could easily be done. louis

About five years ago, I made a "projector sounds" tape with some good equipment (Schoeps microphone and DAT recorder). It was made for a completely different purpose, but I could make a WAV file of the Hatke bells if anyone wants it. It has the projector and lamp exhaust noise in it as well, however, so it would not work as well as a ringtone or sound effect as a recording of just the bell (which I did not think to make, unfortunately).

No one has mentioned "Can't Scratch" reel end alarms.

They were made both with mechanical and electrical bells.

One knows that one was once a real, reel-to-reel projectionist when the sight of old projection equipment becomes as exciting as revealing images of the opposite sex once were! It could also be an indication that the one who was once a real projectionist is aging right along with the vintage equipment that is so admired!

Ummmm I can't say the same. I guess I'm not a projectionist due to my human nature.

...you can't really read a book for a long uninterrupted time, because you stop after every paragraph to check carbons.

when watching a movie at home on video you have to have a tape recorder playing the sound of a running film projector in the room.

Nothing makes you jump faster then a sound like film tailing out or snapping in the machine.

You know you are projectionist when....

You bring a three full reel can to the bowling alley and leave the bowling bag in the booth.

You hook up an hourmeter to the light switch in your house and wear PPE to change the bulb at 3000 hours.

You play a DVD right through to the end of the credits to see if there is a rating card.

You schedule a 2hr. 15min. DVD at 5:45 PM so your wife can watch American Idol at 8:00 PM.

Well, that's just bad scheduling. You didn't leave any time for between-shows cleanup! [Big Grin]

when watching a dvd at home and the credits start rolling you expect the lights in the place to turn on.

for those who use foils for cues... when the credit foil hits at the perfect time (at the start of the first words in the credits) you say, "that is one sexy foil placement".
