So, you know you're a projectionist when... You pour your heart and soul into explaining to management figures why test screenings should proceed without constraints on when they can be conducted, so that things like upside-down reels in shows don't stand a chance of happening. 2.) ... After the night of the power cut where everything dies and a couple of shows are stuck in projectors with an hour to run, you head home, flick the bedroom light switch on, fall asleep, awaken at 6:00AM, race to work, enter the projection room at 6:10AM, and build up the Harry Potter print that releases in 3 hours... before reattaching things to the building that ripped off in the storm that knocked out power for 8-9 hours. Yeah, the show must go on. 3.) The plastic things rolling around under the passenger seat of your car are old rigid cases for Osram short arc lamps that, you know, you might need one day just in case, just because those cloth bags don't have slots in them... 4.) The phone rings (again) and you immediately tell it to "Oh, fuck off!" 5.) You wake up in the middle of the night, totally puzzled, and mildly annoyed, by some tiny thing in your mouth. You turn on the bedside light, work it loose, spit it out and there in your hand is a 2mm squarish piece of clear splicing tape. My Strong lamphouse had a little extension doodad that had to be screwed onto the end of the lamp before clamping it into the holder. Regarding "You want to scream whenever you see 4x3 pictures stretched out to fit 16x9 TV screens. Or vice-versa." my wife and I notice that her parents watch TV with the "fat mode" enabled. On another one, I ALWAYS see the reel change cue on screen. I haven't seen enough digital movies to notice, but do they also put the reel cue on screen? Harold  |  IP: Logged Robert E. So, I'm generally in the auditorium instead of the booth. I am occasionally in a booth helping on an install or troubleshooting something (like a celltower across the street causing a problem). The one digital movie I know I've seen MANY, MANY times is The Game Plan, since that's test content used in ISDCF Plug Fests ( http://www.isdcf.com/ISDCF/Plugfest.html ). Great discussion! It was about the fact that if you never miss the changeover cue like you claimed then it would take roughly 20 minutes into the first digital screening you watched to figure out if the cues were there or not.  |  IP: Logged
