Why did you decide on Qube?  |  IP: Logged Phil Blake Jedi Master Film Handler Posts: 558 From: esperance western australia Registered: Nov 2003 posted 01-19-2010 04:42 AM                        the qube was wrapped up in a package deal with nec 1600 networking gear and pioneer amp for switching audio. not so sure this was wise , i have had my new replacement qube for nearly a week and still that wont go either, we were unable to obtain sufficient help from qube to assist in removing the disabling on the ip address setup , thus we are unable to assign our ip address to the qube to get it on our vpn. everything we have tryed to overcome this has failed now i have 2 qubes that are problems.  |  IP: Logged Brendan Penny Expert Film Handler Posts: 121 From: Bundoora, Australia Registered: Dec 2008 posted 01-19-2010 06:47 PM                     O.k Phil I'm going to let you in on something. There are two different types of techs in cinema now: IT Techs = I will get around to fixing it. I don't really care if you wait 2 weeks. If you can't get me a VPN connection to do it remotely then bad luck you will just have to wait. Cinema Techs = Bust arse and do whatever is necessary to get the customer back on screen. One session lost is not good enough. Next flight out type support. Which one do you have??? Putting us at the front of the upgrade line was Qube's decision, not ours. Brad - Unfortunately, in our case, we weren't given any kind of a choice in the matter. If it's working out good for you, I'd like to check it out. It could be good for some applications. Best of luck with your troubles. With all the IT tech support jobs going to India, I'm surprised you can't get someone on the phone to help you fix the installation blues.  |  IP: Logged Phil Blake Jedi Master Film Handler Posts: 558 From: esperance western australia Registered: Nov 2003 posted 01-22-2010 05:10 AM                        today we had a breakthrough , new software installation on new qube. sorted out settings on the raid config , got rid of blue screen of death , loaded all my DCI content and it tested out on the bench. everything seemed to be ok for launch. I swapped qubes out of rack and set up for test drive......... booted fine , then it crashed and burnt because it has not any audio hardware installed. tryed all day to get audio from it with no luck , swapped old (lame) qube back into rack for tonights Avatar session then it too fell over with a raid drive failure and will not work either , one consolation , i am lucky to have good old faithful 35mm film print which is what is going to hit the screen tonight. i turned them both off , bought 2 bottles of beer and went home ............... give me this back any day  |  IP: Logged
