Thanks to Carsten, Anders and especially Lars for all the work. We were looking for a way to make DCPs for some one minute local publicity shorts. We are working from 2048x1080 DPX's and discrete 5.1 tracks for 24fps projection and it seems to work fine. They test OK on the Stereoscopic player. The machines that will be playing them are likely Dolby and maybe Sony, so we're wondering about the transport. I've read that Ext2 or Ext3 formatted USB keys are used. Does it matter which and is one more compatible than the other? Also is all that's required a simple copy of the "DCP" folder generated from DCPC? No other magic? Thanks for any info. BTW: the English manual was very helpful though it seems DCPC has evolved since the original was made. Also, error and info popups still appear in German. Babel fish are so handy. But if a text file containing all the German was available, I wouldn't mind translating it. Also: I tried using an interleaved 5.1 wav file but it didn't work so I had to use discrete wavs. This is on 1.3.7.5.  |  IP: Logged Stephen Angelini Film Handler Posts: 6 From: Canada Registered: May 2010 posted 11-14-2010 11:00 AM                     FYI: we used an EXT4 formatted USB key and all the DCPC's we created worked on a DSS500. I wonder if all systems are as friendly. Thanks, Kris  |  IP: Logged Stephen Angelini Film Handler Posts: 6 From: Canada Registered: May 2010 posted 11-26-2010 06:26 PM                     I'm having a real problem with a 1'20" DCP using DCPC: everything seems just fine but there's a full scale audio "tick" at the very end of the DCP that doesn't seem to go away no matter what I try. It shows up in both stereoscopic player and at the theatre. My wav files are spec and clean (no metadata (not even in ultraedit), and all the files start and end at -inf.). The audio files play clean in 4 different programs, and the audio mxf DCPC generates plays cleanly in VLC. We did a test making a DCP from a short 10 sec video twice the length of the audio, and then vice versa; in either case the longer media seems to dictate the length of the DCP and there's no audio pops. We tried the same variation with the original audio, and it ticks at end anyway. I'm stumped. Any ideas? I realize this isn't necessarily the proper place for this discussion, but I'm not aware of any English boards discussing this (and my German is "uber sehr schlect...). I'll try sending this to Lars in case he knows what's going on. There may be a DC offset on the audio track. There's actually only 8 choices that are easy to edit the audio to, quarters and eighths; any other choices have > 4 decimal places and hard to edit to. It seems that DCPC creates this tick if the audio is very very close but not dead on with the video, but not if there's a lot of difference between the two. And BTW, DC offset and non-zero end and start levels were among the list of things I made sure were not an issue. I'm interesting in getting feedback and as well help flushing out bugs. I have personally used it on the Dolby DSS100/200 and have had people use it on the Sony and DoRemi. Whenever Wraptor was mentioned during the last two years, people came up with QuVIS being bankrupt. But obviously they still develop and sell Wraptor Did they crawl out of Chapter 11, does anyone have more insight? They recently updated Wraptor to support Apple Compressor 3.5, which had been broken for over a year. I'm not sure if there are any other fixes/enhancements beyond that. The issue with Wraptor is that there are more competitors now and it needs some work to catch up. Qube and DoRemi also have Final Cut plugins. The other question is whether the plugins will work with the new Final Cut Pro X that Apple just announced.  |  IP: Logged
