You write that you changed units, DMA8 plus units, I guess... So, we may guess that it's not a problem in the DMA8 plus DB25 socket. (Something that could be possible, after all. Remember that the outputs are males and males are a bit more receptive to accidents and issues than females.) The way I imagine it, it is more probable for a problem to derive from the shields of the cables, than the plus. Yet, in DMA8 plus analog out, the L,Ls and Rs are one next to another...
