I didn't make them pay for a third ticket since it was just a little baby. I generally charge for kids as soon as they're past the "carrying around" stage, so maybe two or so. Basically if the kid walks in or is standing there on his own, he gets charged for.

We charge starting age 2 and up. I figure babies are more disruptive and noisy than most adults ever are, so why should they get in free?

Our previous owner used to have a sign that said "All children need a ticket except babes in arms," but people were carrying in 6 and 7 year olds so we did away with that. Nobody minds the charge, or at least we get no complaints.

Ive seen families with babies wearing big over ear protection at movies a few different times actually. In my head I thought if they "had" to bring the baby I applaud their effort to try to protect the kids hearing. Usually the muffs are too big and slip off anyway.
Just think the cinema is not the place for very small children. Those that cant control their own screams and outbursts or are too young to be in that kind of sound environment. If I had an infant and couldn't find a babysitter then I would stay home.

Most of the parents I have come in with babies usually have a couple other kids with them. I luckily don't have many people bringing them to anything other than kids movies. A lot of them do end up tag-teaming taking the kiddos outside or to the bathrooms pretty regularly though.
Our policy is under 3 and if they'll be sitting on their parents lap, if they get their own seat they get their own ticket.

I went to see Joker the other day at a Dolby theater and some idiots brought their toddler to the film. Even if it wasn't an adult, violent film, it was a stupid idea due to the intensity of the presentation. The kid was crying during the trailers and the couple didn't look like the kind of people who were going to care, but one parent left with the kid during the trailers and the other parent soon followed and they didn't return, so they "did the right thing" in the end.
