Just think If we are at the show on Friday we may get hit by the big one while I am watching the movie and they won't have to tear down the place, nature will do It for them. It's all in the timing. They have plenty of exits for us to get out before I get hit by a surround speaker.

This makes me really sad. When I worked at LucasArts (96-04), we had many, many Lucasfilm company screenings there. It is a great theater.

New Denver Drive-In in the parking lot of an existing business, opening this weekend (June 12); hopefully they'll turn off the large illuminated sign adjacent to the screen.

The St. Michael Cinema in St. Michael, Minnesota (NW of Minneapolis) is opening on June 11, at least partially, in the same location that was formerly the CineMagic Metropolitan 15 with SXHD.

Four screens out of 11 at first. The former IMAX auditorium is being called the "Eiffel Screen."

Laguna Beach (California) Twin closes it's doors Sunday, August 30th. Still running film the lease holder, Regency Theatres sited the inability to come to terms with the landlord for a new lease so that necessary improvements could be made to the property. This little theatre is directly across the street from the Pacific Ocean. We drive past it every Sunday morning.

Just discovered Cinemark Tinseltown in South Austin, Texas off of I 35 closed on August 30 of this year.

Regal East Valley 13 in Renton, WA only has matinee shows listed for today and then nothing on the schedule beyond that. This sub-run house converted to digital just this year. A former ACT III theater, my understanding is that Regal owns the building and property and has a non-cinema use clause if sold. Digging on the internet one site says the building is no longer on the market.

I was hoping it would get converted to a Cinebarre like a couple other area ACT III builds have that Regal shuttered.

Palladium 12 in Birmingham, MI reopened October 2nd as 5-screen Emagine Palladium Theatre

Angelika Film Center & Cafe in San Diego, CA is set to open October 9th

The LOT in La Jolla, CA opened September 30th

The Carmike Patriot 13 in Lawton, OK had its VIP night earlier this evening (Tues., 11/3/15). The theater will host a charity fund-raiser night for United Way Wednesday evening. It officially opens Thursday evening, in time for the first screenings of Spectre.

The theater has 12 standard priced screens. The 13th screen is a IMAX-branded house. This one is pretty big by IMAX digital standards; it has 598 seats, which is just 3 shy of the 601 of the IMAX-branded house at the Warren Moore theater.

Plans are to turn the existing Carmike 8 theater in Lawton into a bargain/2nd run theater.

The Waynesboro theatre in Wanynesboro, PA is opening tonight 11/19/2015. The theatre had been closed for over a year and was running film (in glorious mono) when it closed). It has been completely renovated on the inside as well as the facade. The sound system has grown a bit too to 7.1 channels.

Montreal's only French language arthouse cinema is closed again.

Le Cinéma parallèle, propriétaire des salles du complexe l'Excentris, à Montréal, cesse «provisoirement» ses opérations. L'organisme voué à la diffusion du cinéma d'auteur entend déposer sous peu «un avis d'intention (pour) faire une proposition à ses créanciers», annonce-t-on cet après-midi par voie de communiqué.

Cinema Parallel, owner of the rooms of the complex Excentris in Montreal continues "temporarily" its operations. The organization dedicated to the dissemination of auteur cinema shortly intends to file a "notice of intention (to) make a proposal to its creditors," are we announced this afternoon in a press release.

"Since the acquisition and the reopening of the place four years ago, Excentris fought tirelessly to maintain its broadcasting mandate in a context of changing industry. (...) The Excentris financial health is directly proportional to its ability to buy from distributors in auteur films to broader. And that's where the problem was injured, "said the board.

According to what is said, the institution of Saint-Laurent Boulevard, founded in the late 90s by the patron Daniel Langlois, then bought in 2011 by the Cinema parallel, self-financed its operations almost 90%. Some 150 titles were released annually.

One copy is going to Quartier Latin, the other to Scotiabank. Two weeks later, we were to get the truncated version — well, guess what cinephiles are going to do? They’re not going to wait two weeks (to see it at Excentris).”

There was a fire at the Sky-Vue Drive-In in Lamesa, Texas, on Friday morning which destroyed the building. (Pronounced Luh-Meesuh)

A Lamesa landmark’s future is in question following a devastating blaze on Friday morning at the Sky-Vue drive-in movie theater.

While leaving the nearby projection building untouched, fire and heat heavily damaged or destroyed the interior of the concession building.

And while the projection booth might be considered the heart of any movie theater, the concession area was the soul of the Sky-Vue.

It was there that the theater’s signature Chihuahua sandwich was created and served to generations of Lamesans.

Memorabilia – of the theater and the community – covered the walls.

“That’s what’s killing me – we lost all of that stuff,” owner Sam Kirkland said as he stood in a damp, frigid north wind while watching firefighters battle the blaze.

“There was a story behind everything that was on the walls.”

Inside the building when the fire began, Kirkland escaped out the front door after a futile attempt to contain the flames with a fire extinguisher.

As he has done for years, Kirkland had arrived at the theater early to begin making preparations to serve both food and a movie to patrons from throughout the region.

Kirkland said he turned on the gas grill to let it start heating up and went into a nearby room to cut up cabbage, one of the unique ingredients of the famous Chihuahua.

Star wars themed cinema opened in Nebraska:

The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has clearly found it useless to resist the dark side of the Force. The US theater chain has opened a new Star Wars-themed movie theater in Omaha, Nebraska, just in time for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," though the venue will show all kinds of movies.

The lobby in the new theater is filled with intergalactic decorations inspired by the Empire. The moment customers walk through the glass doors, they're greeted by a massive, 10-foot-tall (3-meter-tall) Death Star hanging from the ceiling."
