Interesting Credit Card Scam
A friend sent this to me ........ very interesting. Please pass it on. ---------------------------------------------------------- We all receive emails all the time regarding one scam or another; but last week I REALLY DID get scammed! Both VISA and MasterCard told me that this scam is currently being worked throughout the Midwest, with some variance as to the product or amount, and if you are called, just hang up. My husband was called on Wednesday from "VISA" and I was called in Thursday from "MasterCard".It worked like this:Person calling says,"This is Carl Patterson (any name) and I'm calling from the Security and Fraud department at VISA.My Badge number is 12460.Your card has been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern, and I'm calling to verify. This would be on your VISA card issued by 5/3 bank.Did you purchase an Anti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99 from a marketing company based in Arizona?" When you say "No".The caller continues with,"Then we will be issuing a credit to your account. This is a company we have been watching and the charges range from $297 to $497,just under the $500 purchase pattern that flags most cards. Before your next statement, the credit will be sent to (gives you your address), is that correct?" You say,"Yes". The caller continues . . . "I will be starting a fraud investigation. If you have any questions, you should call the 800 number listed on your card 1-800-VISA and ask for Security. you will need to refer to this Control _".Then gives you a 6 digit number. "Do you need me to read it again?" Caller then says he "needs to verify you are in possession of your card. Turn the card over. There are 7 numbers; first 4 are 1234 (whatever) the next 3 are the security numbers that verify you are in possession of the card. These are the numbers you use to make internet purchases to prove you have the card.Read me the 3 numbers." Then he says "That is correct.I just needed to verify that the card has not been lost or stolen, and that you still have your card.Do you have any other questions? Don't hesitate to call back if you do." You actually say very little, and they never ask for or tell you the card number. But after we were called on Wednesday,we called back within 20 minutes to ask a question. Are we glad we did! The REAL VISA security dept. told us it was a scam and in the last 15 minutes a new purchase of $497.99 WAS put on our card. Long story made short . . we made a real fraud report and closed the VISA card and they are reissuing as a new number. What the scam wants is the 3 digit number and that once the charge goes through, they keep charging every few days.By the time you get your statement, you think the credit is coming, and then its harder to actually file a fraud report. The real VISA reinforced that they will never ask for anything on the card (they already know). What makes this more remarkable is that on Thursday,I got a call from "Jason Richardson of MasterCard" with a word for word repeat of the VISA Scam. This time I didn't let him finish. I hung up. We filed a police report (as instructed by VISA),and they said they are taking several of these reports daily and to tell friends, relatives and coworkers. PASS IT ON!

Andy Rooney said on 60 minutes a few weeks back:
I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America.
Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine,White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens.Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.Guns do not make you a killer.I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.
I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, that is why there are no girls allowed Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE?
I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong,it is not a phobia,it is an opinion.
I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird,or tick me off.
When 70% of the people who get arrested are black,in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling,it is the Law of Probability.
I believe that if you are selling me a milk shake,a pack of cigarettes,a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter offact,if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!
My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.I think thepolice should have every right to shoot your sorry self if you threatenthem after they tell you to stop.If you can't understand the word"freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above lines.
I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bankloans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store,or any other business.
We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms,so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.
I don't hate the rich.I don't pity the poor.I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn't stop you from watching them.
I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more.If it ticks you off,go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building. Ask your buddy that invented the Internet to help you. (Al)
It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say "NO!"
I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement. And,please, stay home until that new lip ring heals.I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!
I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else.
And if you don't like my point of view, though. DON'T PASS IT ON!!

Rated G One film-tech good guy sent this to me.
You could hardly see for all the snow, Spread the rabbit ears as far as they go; Pull a chair up to the TV set, "Good Night, David. Good Night, Chet."
Depending on the channel you tuned, You got Rob and Laura - or Ward and June; It felt so good. It felt so right, Life looked better in black and white.
I Love Lucy, The Real McCoys, Dennis the Menace, the Cleaver boys; Rawhide, Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, Superman, Jimmy and Lois Lane.
Father Knows Best, Patty Duke, Rin Tin Tin and Lassie too; Donna Reed on Thursday night! -- Life looked better in black and white.
I wanna go back to black and white, Everything always turned out right; Simple people, simple lives... Good guys always won the fights.
Now nothing is the way it seems, In living color on the TV screens; Too many murders, too many fights, I wanna go back to black and white.
In God they trusted; alone in bed they slept, A promise made was a promise kept; They never cussed or broke their vows, They'd never make the network now.
But if I could, I'd rather be, In a TV town in '53; It felt so good. It felt so right, Life looked better in black and white.
I'd trade all the channels on the satellite, If I could just turn back the clock tonight; To when everybody knew wrong from right, Life was better in black and white!

Rated G A Chain letter to make you think.....
It was a way of life, and sometimes it made me crazy. All that re-fixing, reheating, renewing, I wanted just once to be wasteful. Waste means affluence.Throwing away things meant you knew there'd always be more.
But then my husband died, and on that clear, cold morning, in the warmth of our bedroom, I was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't any more. No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat, no more "just one minute". Sometimes, what we care about the most gets all used up and goes away . . never to return before we can say good-bye, say "I love you".
So . while we have it . . . it's best we love it . . . . and care for it . . . and fix it when it's broken. . . . and heal it when it's sick.
This is true . . . . for marriage . . . . and old cars . . . . and children with bad report cards . . . . . and dogs with bad hips and aging parents and grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it.
Some things we keep - like a best friend that moved away or a classmate we grew up with. There are just some things that make us happy, no matter what.
Life is important, like people we know who are special . . and so, we keep them close!
I received this from someone who thought I was a 'keeper'! Then I sent it to the people I think of in the same way. Now it's your turn to send this to all those people that are "keepers" in your life . . .
Thank you for being a special part of my life! . . .. . . You're a Keeper

I think this is important enough to forward.
WRITE IT ON THE BACK OF YOUR ENVELOPES
I THINK THIS A GREAT IDEA. I WILL START WRITING THIS ON FRONT OF ALL MY ENVELOPES, TOO!
You may have heard in the news that a couple of Post Offices in Texas have been forced to take down small posters that say "IN GOD WE TRUST," The law, they say, is being violated.
Anyway, I heard proposed on a radio station show, that we all write "IN GOD WE 'TRUST " on the back of all our mail. After all, that is our national motto, and it's on all the money we use to buy those stamps. I think it is a wonderful idea.
We must take back our nation from all the people who think that anything that offends them should be removed.
If you like this idea, please pass it on and DO IT. The idea of writing or stamping "IN GOD WE TRUST" on our envelopes sounds good to me. I'M HAVING MY STAMP MADE TODAY!
It has been reported that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having "In God We Trust"on our money and having God in the pledge of Allegiance.
Could it be that WE just need to take action and tell the 14% to "sit down and shut up"?
If you agree, pass this on, if not delete.

Chain Letters To all my friends, thanks to you sending me chain letters in 2003: * I stopped drinking Coca Cola after I found out that it's good for removing toilet stains. * I stopped going to the movies for fear of sitting on a needle infected with AIDS. * I smell like a dog since I stopped using deodorants because they cause cancer. * I don't leave my car in the parking lot or any other place and sometimes I even have to walk about 7 blocks for fear that someone will drug me with a perfume sample and try to rob me. * I also stopped answering the phone for fear that they ask me to dial a stupid number and then I get a phone bill from Hell with calls to Uganda, Singapore and Tokyo. * I stopped consuming several foods for fear that the estrogens they contain may turn me gay. * I also stopped eating chicken and hamburgers because they are nothing other than horrible mutant freaks with no eyes or feathers that are bred in a lab so that places like McDonald's can sell their Big Macs. * I also stopped drinking anything out of a can for fear that I will get sick from the rat feces and urine. * I also donated all my savings to the Amy Bruce account, a sick girl that was about to die in the hospital about 7,000 times. Funny, that girl, she's been 7 since 1993... * I went bankrupt from bounced checks that I made expecting the $15,000 that Microsoft and AOL were supposed to send me when I participated in their special e-mail program. * My Ericcson phone never arrived and neither did the passes for a paid vacation to Disneyland. IMPORTANT NOTE: Unless you tell 1,200 people in the next 10 seconds, a bird will crap on you today at 7 PM.

What was my Mother thinking?
My Mom used to cut chicken, chop eggs, and spread mayo on the same cutting board with the same knife...and no bleach! Funny, but we never seemed to get food poisoning.
My Mom used to defrost hamburger on the counter, too....and I used to eat it raw sometimes, but I just can't remember getting e coli...not once!
Almost all of us would have rather gone swimming in the lake instead of a pristine pool (talk about boring). The term cell phone would have conjured up a phone in a jail cell, and a pager was the school PA system.
We all took gym, not "PE"... and risked permanent injury with a pair of high top Ked's (only worn in gym) instead of having cross-training athletic shoes with air cushion soles and built-in light reflectors. I can't recall any injuries, but they must have happened because they tell us how much "safer" we are now.
Flunking gym was not an option... even for stupid kids! I guess "PE" must be a lot harder than gym.
Every year, someone taught the whole school a lesson [and provided comic relief] by running in the halls with leather soles on linoleum tile and hitting the wet spot. How much better off would we be today if we only knew we could have sued the School District!
Speaking of school, we all said prayers and sang the National Anthem and staying in detention after school caught all sorts of negative attention. We must have had horribly damaged psyches!
I can't understand it. Schools didn't offer 14 year-olds an abortion or condoms (we wouldn't have known what either was anyway), but they did give us a couple of baby aspirin and cough syrup if we started getting the sniffles.
What an archaic health system we had then. Remember the School Nurse? Ours wore a hat and everything!
I thought that I was supposed to accomplish something before I was allowed to be proud of myself.
I just can't believe how bored we all were without computers, Play Station, Nintendo, X-box, or 270 digital-cable TV stations.
I must be repressing that memory as I try to rationalize through the denial of the dangers could have befallen us as we trekked off each day about a mile down the road to some guy's vacant lot, built forts out of branches and pieces of plywood, made trails, and fought over who got to be the Lone Ranger. What was that property owner thinking, letting us play on that lot? He should have been locked up for not putting up a fence around the property, complete with a self-closing gate and an infrared intruder alarm!
Oh yeah... and where was the Benadryl and sterilization kit when I got that bee sting? I could have died!
We played king of the hill on piles of gravel left on vacant construction sites and when we got hurt, Mom pulled out the 48-cent bottle of Mercurochrome and then we got our rear spanked. Now it's a trip to the emergency room, followed by a 10-day dose of a $49 bottle of antibiotics and then Mom calls the attorney to sue the contractor for leaving a horribly vicious pile of gravel where it was such a threat!
We didn't act up at the neighbor's house either because if we did, we got our butt spanked there, too...and then we got spanked again when we got home! Talk about physical abuse!!!
Mom invited the door to door salesman inside for coffee, kids choked down the dust from the gravel driveway while playing with Tonka trucks. (Remember Tonka Trucks? Remember how tough they were? It sure wasn't so they could take the rough Berber in the family room!)
Oh, and Dad even drove a car burning leaded gas!
Our music had to be left inside when we went out to play and I am sure that I nearly exhausted my imagination a couple of times when we went on two week vacations. I should probably sue the folks now for the danger they put us in when we all slept at campgrounds in the family tent.
Summers were spent behind the push lawn mower and I didn't even know that mowers came with engines until I was 13...and (horrors!) we got one without an "automatic blade-stop"!
How sick were my parents? Of course my parents weren't the only psychos. I recall Donny Reynolds from next door coming over and doing his tricks on the front stoop just before he fell off. Little did his Mom know that she could have owned our house. Instead she picked him up and swatted him for being such a goof. It was a neighborhood run amok!!!
To top it off, not a single person I knew had ever been told that they were from a dysfunctional family. How could we possibly have known that? We needed group therapy and anger management classes...and didn't even know it!
We were obviously so duped by so many societal ills, that we didn't even notice that the entire country wasn't taking Prozac!
How did we EVER survive???.... ____________________________________________________

"OLD GEEZERS"
"Geezers" (slang for an old man) are easy to spot:
At sporting events, during the playing of the National Anthem, Old Geezers hold their caps over their hearts and sing without embarrassment. They know the words and believe in them. Old Geezers remember World War I, the Depression, World War II, Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Normandy and Hitler. They remember the Atomic Age, the Korean War, The Cold War, the Jet Age and the Moon Landing, not to mention Vietnam.
If you bump into an Old Geezer on the sidewalk, he will apologize. If you pass an Old Geezer on the street, he will nod or tip his cap to a lady. Old Geezers trust strangers and are courtly to women. Old Geezers hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection.
Old Geezers get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children and they don't like any filth on TV or in movies. Old Geezers have moral courage. They seldom brag unless it's about their grandchildren.
It's the Old Geezers who know our great country is protected, not by politicians or police, but by the young men and women in the military serving their country.
This country needs Old Geezers with their decent values. We need them now more than ever. Thank God for Old Geezers!
Pass this on to all the Old Geezers you know.

IT WAS GOOD
Were you a kid in the Fifties or earlier? Everybody makes fun of our childhood! Comedians joke. Grandkids snicker. Twenty-something's shudder and say "Eeeew!" But was our childhood really all that bad? Judge for yourself:
In 1953 The US population was less than 150 million... Yet you knew more people then, and knew them better... And that was good.
The average annual salary was under $3,000... Yet our parents could put some of it away for a rainy day and still live a decent life... And that was good
A loaf of bread cost about 15 cents... But it was safe for a five-year-old to skate to the store and buy one... And that was good.
Prime-Time meant I Love Lucy, Ozzie and Harriet, Gunsmoke and Lassie... So nobody ever heard of ratings or filters... And that was good.
We didn't have air-conditioning... So the windows stayed up and half a dozen mothers ran outside when you fell off your bike... And that was good.
Your teacher was either Miss Matthews or Mrs. Logan or Mr. Adkins... But not Ms Becky or Mr. Dan... And that was good.
The only hazardous material you knew about... Was a patch of grassburrs around the light pole at the corner... And that was good.
You loved to climb into a fresh bed... Because sheets were dried on the clothesline... And that was good.
People generally lived in the same hometown with their relatives.. So "child care" meant grandparents or aunts and uncles... And that was good.
Parents were respected and their rules were law.... Children did not talk back..... and that was good.
TV was in black-and-white... But all outdoors was in glorious color....And that was certainly good.
Your Dad knew how to adjust everybody's carburetor.. And the Dad next door knew how to adjust all the TV knobs.. And that was very good.
Your grandma grew snap beans in the back yard... And chickens behind the garage... And that was definitely good.
And just when you were about to do something really bad.. Chances were you'd run into your Dad's high school coach... Or the nosy old lady from up the street... Or your little sister's piano teacher... Or somebody from Church.... ALL of whom knew your parents' phone number... And YOUR first name... And even THAT was good! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
REMEMBER...
Send this on to someone who can still remember Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Laurel & Hardy, Abbott & Costello, Sky King, Little Lulu comics, Brenda Starr, Howdy Doody and The Peanut Gallery, The Lone Ranger, The Shadow Knows Nellie Belle, Roy and Dale, Trigger and Buttermilk as well as the sound of a real mower on Saturday morning, and summers filled with bike rides, playing cowboy, playing hide and seek and kick-the-can and Simon Says, baseball games, amateur shows at the local theater before the Saturday matinee, bowling and visits to the pool...and eating Kool-Aid powder with sugar, and wax lips and bubblegum cigars
Didn't that feel good, just to go back and say, Yeah, I remember that!
And was it really that long ago?

MOMENTS IN LIFE
There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real!
When the door of happiness closes, another opens; but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one, which has been opened for us.
Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.
Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.
Please send this message on if you wish
Don't count the years-count the memories..........
