"Mommie Dearest" is a GREAT comedy -- Lines like "Tina!!! Bring me the axe!" and "I am not one of your FAAAANS!" can still floor me. Christina Crawford said that she hated the film because, ultimately, they made another Joan Crawford film."Starship Troopers" is a ton-o-fun, too -- "Would you like to know more?" Also... "Congo" (Roger Ebert says to avoid any movie containing a hot air balloon). "The Cable Guy" -- "The password is..." Just saw "Mac & Me" on cable this week...Yeah, that one too.

"Mommie Dearest" indeed."Anaconda". Jon Voight's performance is so bizarre it's fascinating to watch. "The Island of Dr. Moreau". Another bizarre performance, this time by Marlon Brando. This movie provided the inspiration for the Austin Powers Mini-Me character.

Howard The Duck (1986)-- It's not supposed to make sense!! "A sci-fi comedy about a fast-talking, cigar-chomping, beer-loving duck from a parallel universe who somehow winds up in Cleveland." This is a really fun movie. No matter what anyone says. No matter if The Great George Lucas (executive producer) denies having anything to do with it and has disowned it. No matter if it will never be released on DVD, if no widescreen consumer copies exist, if it was the worst movie of the 80s, if it's over 2 hours of a talking duck, a big-haired Lea Thompson and a ton of bad music, it's still my alltime favorite!! SO THERE! (note: I own both soundtracks on LP, (original and "mega-mix") and an 8x10 of Howard.)BASEketball (1998)-- The funniest movie of 1998. Nobody came to see it at the theater. Everyone I show the video to loves it. The scene at the hospital is a classic. Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood (1996) -- One of the funniest african-american comedies I have ever seen! The scene where Grandma lights up the HUGE joint always puts me on the floor. Meet The Feebles (1989) -- Banned in the United States, dubbed as "The muppets gone horribly wrong." A sadistic hippo, a crack-addicted frog, a drug-dealing gangster rat, all centered around a children's show and directed by Academy Award Winner Peter Jackson. Priceless. Half Baked (1998) -- Okay, so another hillarious movie from 1998. Not as funny as BASEketball though. Classic stoner comedy about, what else, smokin' the weed! Great laughs, and a perfect role for Jim Brewer. Weak ending, though. Death To Smoochy (2002)-- Anyone who says Insomnia was the first time Robin Williams played a bad guy is an idiot. Had to see this one again because I missed so much becaue the audience was laughing the whole time. Absolutely hysterical!! Nothing but positive comments from everyone leaving the screening they held at our school, yet it bombed at the box office. Go figure. That's about it. Now you can all laugh at me!  =TMP=

I still don't understand the definition of "guilty pleasure." Is it something you feel guilty about liking or something which people say you should feel guilty about liking? A lot of the movies that people are mentioning are just plain good. I don't think that they'd qualify by either definition.If the first definition is the correct one, then the closest thing that comes to mind for me would be MEMENTO, a gimmicky movie which failed at what it was trying to do on almost every single level. But at the same time, it's frustratingly compelling. If it's the second definition, then there are a lot of movies which qualify. One time at that lovely establishment known as "film school," an entire class laughed at me for defending the artistic merit of EYES OF LAURA MARS. So I guess that would have to be on the list. Other films which I have been ridiculed for liking include: THE TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE
