OK Shoot me now, but I am going with Leathal Weapon 2. I must of liked it I saw the damn thing 62 times at the theatre and have watched it numerous times since then.

Why would anyone feel guilty about liking THE EVIL DEAD, ED WOOD, THE BLUES BROTHERS, or STAR TREK 2? That makes absolutely no sense to me. They are all such great movies.

By the way, the STAR TREK 2 director's cut comes out on DVD on Tuesday!

Ok, Dennis just gave a good example...

Blues Brothers....this is NOT a guilty pleasure...aside from being a cult classic...it was liked by the mainstream on it's release and still is well liked today.

Now if you admitted to liking Blues Brothers 2000...now THAT would be a guilty pleasure!

Star Trek movies don't get much respect. It's not cool to like them, even the good ones like II. "Ed Wood" was way out of the mainstream and didn't do well at the box office.

But Martin Landau won an Oscar for his performance in "Ed Wood." Although it wasn't a commercial success, was a critical one. I could see that as a cult film, but not necessarily one you should feel guilty for enjoying.

How about Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood singing in
PAINT YOUR WAGON? The things they do for money!
By the way my kids loved this movie.

When Phantom came out, my dad was a projectionist at a drive-in. I watched it about 20 times, taped it on reel to reel to listen to at home.
I went as the phantom on halloween. No one knew who I was.

Blues Brothers 2000
Okay, I like it a lot, it's officially a guilty pleasure now, Wilson Pickett, B. B. King, Junior Wells, car crashes as an Esther Williams water ballet, etc. & a turn of the 21st century movie made as an allegory. James Brown sings "Please, Please, Please"!

Phantom of the Paradise
Excellent satire of the 70's record business, but best are the hysterically funny parodies of 50's, Beach Boys, & Heavy Metal/Shock Rock songs by Paul Williams. They're gems.

"Upholstery, where my baby sits up close to meeeee" - spot on parody of dopey Beach Boys songs in Phantom of the Paradise

Return of the Living Dead
Great pop punk soundtrack, hysterically funny technical gags like what would happen when dissected veterinary school specimens come back to life

I wasn't aware that "Lethal Weapon 2" was regarded as a bad movie. I liked it much better than 3 or 4.

Conan The Barbarian - saw this one twice in the theater (as it was meant to be seen. The score is still one of my favorites. This was also one of the last films I watched from a balcony, as was...

Pink Floyd - The Wall (Saw this one twice too, from the same seat. 'Nuff said.)

John Carpenter's The Thing - The only tape I've worn out so much I had to buy another. Then I got the DVD (which is excellent, by the way...the score is even hidden in there, and it has a terrific commentary track. Kurt Russel and Carpenter are sitting together reminiscing. It's the first time either has seen the film in years, and you can tell they're just having a blast. Plus an 80+ minute (!) documentary on the making of all facets of the film, and it's not an extended commercial for once! )

Tell your friend to turn on the closed captioning (if it's available). One of the biggest complaints about this film is that you can't understand half of what Williams is mumbling.
