For a couple of seconds the deer and I were able to look each other right in the eye as his head came right up to the glass of my windshield. It fell away by the time I realized what had hit me. Looking in my rear view mirror I saw the guy behind me drive right over the top of it. I kept going till the next exit and got out to look at the truck. The whole side was totaled! (Side note: this was my first attempt at developing sheet film in my bathtub and also an early attempt at making contact prints with a night light bulb. It actually looks pretty good, despite the crappy scan.) Can you give us some details? Use of Zone System?, type of camera, lens, film, type of developer etc. Can't say I ever processed sheet film in my tub. If you do this on a reglar basis you ought to try to find some cheap plastic 8X10 trays!! The Fixer residue might be a tad harsh on your tushy down the road . It's now used for live performances. I've never been inside. For those who care: TXP 320 exposed at f/16 1/500th; I used a normal incident light meter (cheap Luna Pro knockoff); Super Speed Graphic camera with standard 135mm Optar lens. Slight front rise. Taken January 1, 2004. Developed in D-76 for ~8 minutes. The print was made using a 7 1/2 watt nightlight bulb in a reflector worklight with the reflector spray-painted black. The exposure time for the paper was about 10 seconds. The paper was Polymax II RC, which I mistakenly bought in matte finish (which is why the scan doesn't look very sharp). Print was developed in Dektol for ~2 minutes. I'll have a good 8x10 print made someday (I don't have space for a 4x5 enlarger here). This was done mostly as an experiment. The print looks slightly underexposed (due somewhat uneven illumination when printing), but the negative is fine. Here's another shot done basically the same way; this is the BU Bridge in Boston, taken on 12/27/2003. Same camera/lens/film with slight front rise (not enough,actually). f/32 1/30.
