This system became the Movietone process which was the first major sound on film system that was promoted and distributed by a major studio. The "test" films where made mostly in 1923 - 25. Actually, if you look closely at Gus' left hand just before each quack, it appears that the duck is being directed in a way of which the less said, the better. Think of the infamous Filmguard enema and you'll get the idea!
