FYI, David, there's another Ashburton - in Devon, which is in the south west of England. It is known as being a centre for 'alternative lifestyles' (or "where all the fookin' gippos live" according to a less tolerant acquaintance of mine), and a pub there was until recently the headquarters of a somewhat unusual political organisation called the Monster Raving Loony Party. Fremantle is just south (20km) of the capital of West.Australia, Perth. Fremantle is a port city, has a great history and tons of character, very popular with the tourists/backpackers. New Zealand is also supposed to be very beautiful naturewise as we all know from "The Lord of the Rings". From my recent trip to CA I brought home the impression that San Diego is also one of the nicest cities I have been to. No matter, what those guys at DTS England, claim, Denmark is the world's greatest football nation - and i hate football. Every time some serious ball is on the tv screen, NOONE goes near a cinema. You can count the famous Thomas Hauerslev as a dane, too - But he has been naughty, and therefore he's been planted on some small island instead of the mainland !! Lindsay Morris, owner, operator of Kookaburra Outdoor Cinema set in the hills of Perth which, despite what the Victorians claim, IS the sunniest capital city in Oz! I also live in the hills of Perth at Darlington about 30kms east of the city... nice and handy to the cinema. We do have nice beer here but sadly none of the breweries are WA owned anymore even the Kiwi's own our biggest brewery (Swan). Great place to live not lots of traffic and plenty of freedom. The capital City of our fair land, and the worlds southern most capital. Great bars, plenty of theatres and cinema and apparently home of the Lord of the Rings.
