Hello to all of you! [Smile]
Name as posted to the left. I'm from Poland (actually I ran a search on "Poland" on these fora and what I've found out doesn't put my country in good light [Smile] - all the more reason for you to pay a visit and make sure it's all not true [Smile] [Smile] ).

I've been working as a projectionist for 1,5 year in one of the leading cinema chains in Poland (Christie P35GPS; 10 auditoriums). Maybe not as much as a projectionist but merely a "button-pusher" but decided to become a full-time professional [Wink] -long way to go, right? [Big Grin]

Ouch. Very few fellow Scandinavians but as someone so eloquently put it, loving to be a minority. So hi *waves* from Finland. We run a family-based operation in Kuusankoski (or Kouvola, the bigger city that just swallowed us whole and tries to take over), been running the same three-auditorium theater since it opened in 1985 and going strong. Just converted the two biggest auditoriums into digital with the whole 3D thing'n all.

We are proud to be a very small theater with a strong loyal customer base and exceptional quality in both customer service and overall experience. To pair that with the best possible technology available to us is only natural.

I am glad to have stumbled upon such a forum, I have a gut feeling this place is going to be invaluable when dealing with the new digital stuff we've just begun to learn about, really. Already had two hard drives fail [Big Grin]

So greetings to all. Looking forward to heated and not-so heated discussions with you.

And how do I get my picture up...

Thank you John, turns out I did do the correct thing [Big Grin]

Like a good girl I read the FAQ and some threads before I sent my registration request, I especially liked the last bit on the forum rules. Had me giggling through the work night.

Mikkeli, Finland

Hi, another Finn here.

Spotting Elise <waves> made me finally register, have been lurking around for a while now.

I'm Jussi - IT sysadmin and programmer by day and part time cinema guy since 1993.

The two cinemas in Mikkeli are both owned by the Luukkonen family. Kinolinna has two auditoriums, 216 and 63 seats - both are currently film only but we'll be installing digital to the smaller one Q1-Q2/2010. Ritz has 242 seats and is digital only (Barco DP-1500, Dolby DSS100/DSP100 and XpanD 3D) since March 2009. Ca. 53'000 admissions last year, both cinemas combined.

Of the hired employees I'm currently the senior projectionist. I'm also the developer of our POS software, which we also sell to other independent cinemas (currently Mikkeli, Oulu, Kuusankoski, Kotka and Lappeenranta).

I'm from a smallish state in Australia called Queensland. Here, we have the best pies and the worst beer, the best climate and the worst sport, the best women and the worst mother-in-laws, the best koalas and the nastiest snakes, the best projectionists and the worst beer... and yes, the beer IS that bad!
