<------- yet another Australian, from Sydney, projectionist , I've worked in over 50 cinemas over the past 20 years, mostly in Sydney but also briefly in London, England.
I have also worked in film production as a cinematographer & Director and have also custom built a few cinema speaker systems. My latest speaker was a 1/4 wavelength subwoofers.
I also know alot about restoring old altec boxes & believe me when I say that it is better to restore than replace.

Hi, one more for England. I've been a projectionist for just over 3 years now, working at a 4 screen cinema in Liverpool (the smallest screen doubles as a gallery/event space) and galleries. [Smile]

Ok finally got round to it!
I've been a Technician (general dogs body) with Cineworld in the UK of 5 years now. Love the job and consider myself to be pretty much a perfectionist. I've upset a few managers with the NO word when I've been too busy to change a toilet light bulb, but think my 14 screen booth is pretty well run.
I'm now in Ashton-Under-Lyne near Manchester, England but have also been in Swindon's 12 screen (where we did the Dolby Beta test for their DLP server), and Llandudo's 9 screener.
No problems with the company (apart from the usual gripes) and look forward to many years of using real film (Digital is still too immature, in my opinion).

Well...

I'm Swedish.

I work at Astoria Cinemas brand new (well, september last yer) cinema in Sickla, Stockholm. Apparently we are the only ones in Sweden who is using Christie machines, so I thought it might be a good idea to check in here and read some tips on how to use those monsters.

I also work at the art house cinema Zita and occasionally at a small cinema called Refelxen, in Kärrtorp (nice info for all you Swedes here...)

I'm in Perth, Currambine to be exact for all the Perthites out there.. all 3 or so of them. Perth is the one that doesn't get rain every day. (See: Melbourne)

Trying to break into the industry, before film officially dies at chain cinemas. It's hard to show your passion on paper.

Belgian beer is pretty choice IMHO

Perth film-techians should organize an outing!

I'm also from Brisbane. I say 'from', as I have been working at a great cinema chain here in Auckland since early January. I am leaving for Texas next week for a 3 week holiday, then back to my previous job at a 16-plex in Brisbane in July.. Can't wait to get back to Brisi.

Michael,

I'm embarrassed to say that until tonight, I've never read this thread until just now and found it thoroughly entertaining.

Although I currently am only about 20km from your best friend in Aachen (great city, btw) in Eupen, Belgium...I actually also hail from the Emerald City of Sydney.

John
