I was reading in the Tri-City Herald earlier this week that one of the senators (can't remember her name now) was working on a bill where the initiatives will need a 60% approval to pass. The powers-to-be tried just the opposite approach with the 33 million dollar handout for the Mount Vernon School District. The voters said "Nuts to you" two times before the handout was approved. The tallys were about 50 to 55 percent for the handout, and it needed 60% to pass. Our "officials" wanted to get it changed from 60% to 50%. If I actually lived in Mount Vernon, I would have shot it down the three times they tried. The Mount Vernon School District produces students that are dumber than a box of rocks and can't even hit the USA median in math, English, and reading.
