I took the state offered abate program, which if you pass the course, get your endorsement. I now have my license and have been riding for about a month. I bought a 92 Kawasaki Ninja 250, which has enough power to do highways nicely. I had my first highway trip on Monday, a fix it trip to KBMW-AM for work, some 50 miles away. Could have picked a calmer day, but everything worked out ok. Having this small of a profile gives you a new respect for semi's I'll post a pic when they come back from the lab. HOW does a hippopotamus get out in the road? Hysterical calculations boil it down to the fact that it must have been an escaped pig or hog. I had never seen one before. On a motorcycle, I guess Josh will at least be more than 4" off the ground. Variations of scale probably become almost insignificant at some point. Yesterday on the interstate, a Pontiac somehow lost control & went under the trailer of a whatever-wheeler behind the trailer's front axle, then the trailer's rear wheels ran over it.  |  IP: Logged Paul G. The day before yesterday, some dilrod tried to run away from the police. As he was running across Interstate 5, he was hit by a motorcycle. The motorcycle driver lost control of his machine and now lays in the hospital in critical condition. The person trying to escape the police was killed on impact with the motorcycle. What were the police chasing him for? Something stupid. He was drinking a beer in public. Of course after he was killed, the police discovered 1/2 ounce of cocaine in his pocket and had an outstanding warrant.. Now you know.... I don't know how many deer wander the highways in North Dakota. I think all they have out there is is buffalos. Hitting those things would be like running into a brick wall. And watch out for that brick laying in the middle of the highway or that 2X4 that fell out of someone's truck. Its an 18 hour course that teaches you the basics of motorcycle safety through bookwork and even more on the bike training. I was impressed with it and recommend anyone starting out to take one of these courses. We have buffalo, but I think your much more likely to hit a deer. My mom has hit one or two. I had the displeasure of hitting an owl not too long ago. I ride a Honda Shadow which is a cruiser. I do have loud pipes but that is mainly for safety reasons, loud pipes do save lives on the road. I eventually would like to get a Crotch rocket maybe a Ducati or something along those lines. As far as riding goes it is dangerous but there is plenty things that you can do to be safe as far as lane positioning, space cushioning and so forth. I also do agree that it is a bit easier to get out of trouble than it is in a car simply because it is a lot easier to manuever faster and easier than you would in a car.
