Maybe it is not the best form to post an entire scene from a movie, but I thought this particular one had lots of good lines. The scene is from Jaws.
Matt Hooper and Chief Brody flank Mayor Vaughn as they walk up from the beach....
Brody "This is a great white, Larry. A big one. And any shark expert in the world will tell you it's a killer. It's a man eater!"
Hooper "Look, the situation is that apparantly a great white shark has staked a claim in the waters off Amity Island. And he is going to continue to feed here as long as there is food in the water."
Brody "And there's no limit to what he's going to do. I mean we've already had three incidents. Two people killed inside of a week and it's going to happen again. It happened before. The Jersey beach, 1916. Five people chewed up in the surf!"
Hooper "In one week."
Brody(to Hooper) "Tell him about the swimmers."
Hooper "A shark is attracted to the exact kind of splashing and activity that occurs whenever human beings go in swimming; you cannot avoid it."
Brody "If you open the beaches on the forth of July, it's like ringing the dinner bell, for Christ's sake."
(Mayor Vaughn is not convinced.)
Hooper "Look, Mr Vaughn. Mr. Vaughn. I pulled a tooth the size of a shot glass out of the wrecked hull of a boat out there, and it was the tooth of a great white."
Brody "It was Ben Gardner's boat. It was all chewed up. I helped tow it in. You should have seem him!"
Mayor Vaughn "Where. Where is that tooth? Did you see it, Brody?"
Brody "No, I didn't see it. He dropped it..."
Hooper "I had an accident."
Mayor Vaughn "And what did you say the name of this shark is?"
Hooper (pauses) "It is a Carcharodon carcharias. It's a great white."
Mayor Vaughn "But, you don't have the tooth..." "...Look, we depend on the summer people here for our very lives-"
Hooper (raising his voice over the Mayor) "You're not going to have a summer unless you deal with this problem!"
Mayor Vaughn "...and if you close those beaches, we're finished!"
Brody (over Hooper and the Mayor) "We're not only going to have to close the beach, we're going to have to hire somebody to kill the shark! I mean, we're going to have to tell the Coast Guard! We're going to..."
Hooper (talking over Brody) "Mr. Vaughn, you have to contact the shark research panel. You have to release this entire harbor.."
Brody "...we're going to have to place some deputies on because every nut in the world is gonna come here. We've gotta spend money to keep what we've got!"
Mayor Vaughn (interrupts the two) "I don't think either one of you are familiar with our problems!"
Hooper "Uh, I think I am familiar with the fact you're going to ignore this particular problem until it swims up and bites you on the ass! Now wait a second. Wait a second."
Mayor Vaughn "Chief."
Hooper "There are two ways to deal with this problem. You're either going to kill this animal or you're going to cut off its food supply."
Brody "Larry, we have to close the beaches."
Mayor Vaughn (points to a vandalized beach billboard with shark attack graffiti) "Brody. Sick vandalism. That is a deliberate mutilation of a public service message! Now I want those little paint happy bastards caught and hung up by their Buster Browns!"
Hooper "That's it. Goodbye. I'm not going to waste my time arguing with a man whose lining up to be a hot lunch. I'm going to see you later, Brody."
Brody "Aw, c'mon, please don't do this..." (reasoning with Hooper)
Hooper (approaches the Mayor): "Mr. Vaughn. What we are dealing with here is a perfect engine, uh, an eating machine. It's really a miracle of evolution. All this machine does is swim, and eat, and make little sharks. And that's all." (Hooper points to the shark fin on the billboard) "Now why don't you take a long, close look at this sign. Those proportions are correct."
Mayor Vaughn "Love to prove that, wouldn't you? Get your name into the National Geographic."
(Hooper, dumbstruck, starts laughing and continues laughing as he walks toward the billboard.)
Brody "Larry. Larry, if we make an effort today we might be able to save August."
Mayor Vaughn "August? For Christ's Sake, tomorrow's the fourth of July! And we will be open for business! This is going to be one of the best summers we've ever had. Now if you fellas are concerned about the beaches you do whatever you have to do to make them safe. But those beaches will be open for this weekend!"
(Vaughn gets into his car and leaves.)

The "choose life" speech from Trainspotting is pretty funny:
quote: Choose life.
Choose a job.
Choose a career.
Choose a family.
Choose a fucking big television.
Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers.
Choose good health, low cholestrol and dental insurance.
Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments.
Choose a starter home.
Choose your friends.
Choose leisurewear and matching luggage.
Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics.
Choose D.I.Y. and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning.
Choose sitting, watching mind-numbing, spirit crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth.
Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarassment to the selfish, fucked-up brats that you've spawned to replace yourself.
Choose your future.
Choose life.
But why would I want to do a thing like that?
I chose not to choose life.
I chose something else.
And the reasons?
There are no reasons.
Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?
