Oh for Christ's sake!! This has got to be the absolute dumbest proposition I have ever heard. First off, the bathrooms are labled by gender, not sexual orientation. It shouldn't be OK for a gay man to use a woman's restroom... he's still a man... and no one wants to see that shit. Seriously, check your pants and pick a fucking door!!

What Josh said. This is totally ridiculous. It's like the people who get offended at the use of the terms "male" and "female" to describe connector types and instead insist that everyone else bow to their demands to use the terms "plug" and "recepticle" or something stupid like that.

Hmmmm…it appears that both Scott and Jack need a little enlightenment about techie terms and "sexual orientation"... [Razz]

There are world-wide conventions that refer to "Male Receptacles" and "Female Plugs".

Just ***another*** confusing "standard" for the electrical, plumbing, and probably other disciplines.

I prefer just calling them male/female connectors as the case may be. However, Adam's suggestion is worth considering... [beer]

An example of a "Male Receptacle" or "Male Socket"

Male of course because of the pins but the fact that the cable connector is being inserted into the receptacle means there might be justification for calling it female.

I'm not really sure of the point of the PC objections here. At least with the Master/Slave issue, stupid as it is there is at least a point that it is using an objectionable analogy. But I can't understand why a gender analogy for connectors is objectionable. Can't deny anatomy.

As for the restrooms a third category is ridiculous. But I have always maintained that moving to some sort of single gender system would make a lot of sense since one large facility could be smaller than the space taken by two separate ones. It would have to be designed with maximum privacy and security in mind but I think this can be done. Getting people used to the idea would be the most difficult part. And in some cases the laws may not allow it.

For the sake of uniformity...that IEC connector is MALE. The same would hold true for BNC connectors...the one with the pin on the center conductor is male...same holds true for DSubs...MALES are the ones with the pins.

Now Speakon connnectors is where one starts to tread on things!

I don't know where you pulled that from! That has absolutely nothing to do with the issue.

What if your wife or girlfriend were handicapped and needed help in the restroom. YOU could get arrested, or she could get arrested for using the wrong one! Unisex, or single person restrooms in public places are needed.

Maybe some of you guys wouldn't find it so funny if you knew someone in a wheelchair.

A couple of things:

Our 'unisex' restrooms at our theatre is the most popular place for people to have sex and smoke pot (because they can lock themselves in). So I think unisex restrooms are a bad idea.

Also, does future changes in our culture mean that I can't separate my whites and colors when I do my laundry? That would really suck.........

Most public buildings here have a disabled loo which is entirely separate from the normal ladies and gents, for precisely that reason. And yes, they have sometimes been used for purposes other than that for which they were designed. Not so long ago a nightclub owner in Wales was taken to court after he installed a hidden CCTV camera in his disabled loo and a high-pressure sprinkler in the ceiling. He would monitor the picture from his office, and whenever he saw any sex or drugs going on, 'fired' the sprinkler and gave the offenders a dousing! [Big Grin]

Doesn't "Colorado" mean colored? Does that mean it is only a state for colored people? Or is it because everybody there has a color in their name (like REDifer)? Isn't that a very offending state name?
