Most car radios have a clock on them, & nobody cares about the temperature - they just whack the A/C or heater. I guess you could leave it in the car when you go to the mall, when you come back hit the remote & it would tell you not only what time it is so you'd know how long you were at the mall, but what the temperature is in the car. "105 degrees! I'm not getting in there!" To make it talk they used two round magnetic discs that were advanced by the clock. A disc for hours, and a seperate one for miuites with the muniutes overlaid inside the hours disc. A mechanism slid a magnetic head across the discs once a minuite and a Japaneese womans voice annouced the time. To change the language of the clock you just changed the discs. Anyone else ever have one of these....? Thankfully, for the first time in EIGHTEEN YEARS, I'm able to relax, tho not at home, with family during the Holidays. R1 DVDs: The new Criterion release of Ran Nobody Knows Fear and Trembling R2J DVDs: Howl's Moving Castle Ghibli ga Ippai Special - Short Short a collection of all of their non-museum shorts and TV spots, including their music video On Your Mark Books: A reprint of a 19th century book on Japanese ghosts The new Viz English-language imprint of The Art of My Neighbor Totoro And a couple of Japanese electronic dictionaries: Casio 470n EX-Word Canon G55 Wordtank The Casio uses a stylus for entry of kanji characters - very handy for quick look ups, just draw them in. The Canon has 11 dictionaries built in, with jump functions across all of them. My school backpack is going to be a lot lighter this year. She was missed this year at the family dinner in which we all get a bit drunk and play fun table top games (can't remember what this one was called, but it was almost charades-like in some aspects and great fun).
