What should have happened is that Janet Jackson should have walked off stage and said, "So, What?" Then, when the F.C.C. Because its handled by the William Morris Agency. Fox Searchlight seems to have sent me way more NC-17 stickers for posters and banners of The Dreamers than they did of the actual posters and banners. Posts: 3836 From: Albuquerque, NM Registered: Feb 2000 posted 02-08-2004 06:55 PM                        The NFL sent out cease-and-desist letters to all of the casinos that were planning Super Bowl parties here. Most of the casinos quickly re-designed their parties to comply with the 55" max screen size restriction (including sadly The Palms, where I was supposed to help install and operate on four theater screens). Many casinos also refunded the admission fees to their guests. The casinos claim that the admission fees were only to cover the costs of the food and drink provided during these parties--the game itself, being broadcast on the air, would be free of charge. We'll see how that plays out in court. On the other hand, the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino told the NFL to stick it where the sun don't shine--they went on with their party as planned and advertised--big screens and all. We'll see how that plays out in court (wish I was contracting with them that day). The NFL seems to have it in for us. They are looking into ways to sue our advertising agency and the LVCVA because they managed to get our 'Vegas ads run during the game in five major markets by buying local time slots. This was a clever end run around the NFL which had banned our ads from appearing during the game on the national feed. This should be a fun case to watch. Too bad this isn't the old 'Vegas--those NFL lawyers would find themselves wearing cement overshoes at the bottom of Lake Mead by now...
