I will be out of comission again, but should be back here in a few weeks, I hope. I had the surgery on Monday, and spent the week in bed at the hospital enjoying all those nice pain killers that they shot in me. The surgery site itself is sore as hell, but NOT having to deal with a bag anymore has me really thrilled! I'll be back at the theatre in about 6 weeks. Wow. Lots of problems with pain and pressure in my abdomen area. It hurt when I coughed. In October, I sneezed really hard and split a hole in my abdominal muscle wall right in the middle of where the scar is from my colon surgery, along with another tear where the colostomy was located. It didn't hurt, much, but caused my intestines to bulge out making me look really fat, which I'm not. Scared the shit out of me!! I am going back to the hospital to have a rather involved procedure to close up the holes for good. Surgery day is January 12th. I'll be out of work for a month or two. The doctors tell me I will have a week or two of pain after they let me go home from the hospital. The good thing is that I get to take lots of drugs again! I'll have plenty onhand, I hope. I'll try to be online after a week or so. My computer will be beside my bed. Now, to get the loose ends tied up at work. I'm training a guy to do my job until I come back. Right now, I'm the only one that builds the movies on the digital projectors! I've got just a little more than a week to go, and am nervous. I dread the surgery, but know that I will be in better shape when I get back. 2010 is going to be a GOOD year!  |  IP: Logged Robert E. I have a ventral hernia (my abdomen split right down the middle) and the abdominal membrane is all that is holding my guts in. I developed it last summer when I was on a camping trip. I have no idea what I did to cause it. The VA, which cares for my health, say they don't do surgery unless it's hurting me. I have no pain. They suggested I buy an abdominal binder (kind of a male girdle). Relax my friend and enjoy the rest. God bless, you are in my prayers. I have never run a digital projector. You have to "build" the shows on them? I thought you just dropped a DVD in the thing or received it be satellite. BTW, you live in one of the most beautiful cities in this country. As a survivor of 2 emergency open heart surgeries, I know how physically and mentally draining it can be. But one thing's for sure, when it's all done and dusted you know how valuable life is...and I'll bet you'll be using yours to the max. Although this is off-topic, just so you know there's no DVD used for digital projection. Even Blu-Ray disks would be too small capacity. They send the stuff on hard-disks then those files are loaded onto the projector's server.
