Hey, you mean I'm not the only one who remembers Madman Muntz? ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif) The legend of Earl "Madman" Muntz's products is he would go to the engineers and point at a component and ask "What does that do?" If the component was essential to basic operation, he would allow it. But if the component was non-essential to basic functionality, Muntz would order it removed as a cost-cutting measure.

Consider yourself lucky! All of the shows I saw at the Forum during the '80s sounded AWFUL. Loud. Distorted. Ear-piercing. My worst memory (sound-wise) of the Forum would probably be seeing MOTLEY CRUE in 1987 with WHITESNAKE as the opener.
Saw DEF LEPPARD there in 1992 during one of their "In The Round" shows. The sound wasn't too bad that time around, but I don't remember it being great. (Anyone ever see DEF LEPPARD "in the round"? It was a crackup coming to the realization that those extra "equipment" cases being wheeled in through the crowd and onto the stage just before the show were the band members being transported from backstage to the performance area!)
Now, the shows that I attended at the Forum during the '90s had great sound. I can recall seeing KISS, RUSH and METALLICA during '96/'97. (separate shows, although that would be one hell of a triple bill). That was the one and only time seeing RUSH; great show! I had seen KISS a couple of times prior but this was the first time seeing them in make-up, and that show was like time-travelling back to 1977! I'd also seen METALLICA numerous times, but this one was their "Load"/"Reload"/Whatever it was called Tour in the round (and was pretty much the show that was showcased on their "Cunning Stunts" concert DVD).
The Forum today gets the occasional big act to perform, but ever since Staples Center was built that seems to be the prime indoor venue for L.A. (It's amazing to think that Staples is home to the NBA's Lakers and Clippers, the WNBA's Sparks, the AFL's Avengers and the NHL's Kings, yet they still find open nights to host concerts and other events.)

There is one thing one needs to understand about the 77/78 tour and the Alive II album. Even though the majority of the Alive II album was recorded in LA at the Forum the songs played at those shows did not run the same pattern as what is on the album. For one there are no songs on that album before the Destroyer album. The Detroit Rock City and King of the Night Time World were taken from the Destroyer tour and Beth was taken from the Japan tour the songs Hard Luck Woman and Tomorrow and Tonight were recorded during a sound check and an audience track was looped over the songs. Out of all the searching that I have done related to Set lists from that tour Kiss always started the shows in the U.S. with I Stole Your Love. The song Shout it out Loud was never played at the end of their shows so they did some kind of reworking for that song to make it appear that it was the last song of the set. The song Take Me was recorded at the Forum show but not included until the You Wanted The Best, You Got the Best album a best of live and unreleased live cuts.
On the reunion show unlike in the past where they had somebody from the sound board announcing the band. I was in a position to see behind the curtain as Gene Simmons stepped to the mike and shouted out the famous intro to the show. On the 1979 Dynasty show the band was lifted up through the center of the stage right behind the drum risers. You could here the lifts running as they emerged from the stage. The white stage was strange but cool when lit. During the bands solo numbers the stage was lit up in each of the members colors when they performed there songs. Gene was RED, Paul was PURPLE, Ace was BLUE and Peter was GREEN.
This was the normal set list that was pretty much consistent for the Love Gun tour.

As for the live performance I really liked it, nothing really out there and crazy like the show with "Skybox" but then again I wasn't expecting it to crazy. The lead singer was fairly friendly and was getting the audience to groove along, considering it wasn't a huge crowd (an afternoon show).
