What's with all the Kanji and Hiragana all of a sudden? It's a good thing I have Kozuka Gothic Pro installed. Otherwise I'd just see a bunch of damned squares!

At least Bobby is enlightened enough to have a two-byte character set available on his machine. Me? I'm too unemployed to pay for Japanese on my machine - the two TT fonts I have are free from MS (Mincho and PGothic), as is the IME keyboard mapper, and the amazing WindowsCE word processor/E-J and J-E dictionary JWPCE.

And of course all apps these days are unicode compliant - viewing/typing in Japanese is a breeze now, compared to the bad old days of the mid-'90s when I first started playing with Japanese on PCs. No more having to repair broken characters in emails. No more choosing JIS, Shift-JIS, EUC, UTFx encoding headaches! Now if could just learn the language...

Some people are like slinkies -- no really good for anything, but damn, they do bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.
