One of the few technical gaffs in that film (other than the intentional ones... wait... maybe this one was intended too) - you're not going to see anything with a "mixture" control doing 520 knots! Even true airspeed, let alone indicated. But I liked the gag anyway.

Heard this once on a flight about 9 years ago to Cairns, Australia.


Little Old Lady: "Miss, how does the pilot know where to steer the plane? Its very dark outside"

Hostess: "Well, do you see the red light on the left wing tip outside?"

Little Old lady: "Yes, I can see it".

Hostess: "...and can you see the green light on that wing tip on the right?"

Little Old Lady: "I can see that one too, yes."

Hostess: "Well, as long as the pilot keeps the plane between those two lights, we're on the right track."

She was an amazing Hostie, friendly, very efficient and had a magic way with the customers.
