With all these problems they still have close to or over 90% of the home/business pc market. Though I think the unix number should be higher since they included MacOS X server as a "non-unix" when it's actually certified as one. But whatever. That means Windows based computers by a wide margin. Most personal computers are Windows based and the vast majority of businesses (the vast majority of which are small businesses) use Windows-based machines. Chances are much greater a thief will score bank account numbers and other valuable data by tailoring malware to attack PCs. Lots of web servers are Linux-based, which is also why they're targeted by criminals -but not nearly as much as Windows-based PCs. Mac-based computers represent a far smaller target of opportunity. Not nearly as many people use them. Of those who do use them their collective demographic isn't as loaded with money as the PC demographic. If 70% to 90% of the computers in use were Mac-based those virus writers in former Soviet republics would have Apple constantly issuing security patches just like what happens with Windows now.  |  IP: Logged David Stambaugh Film God Posts: 4021 From: Eugene, Oregon Registered: Jan 2002 posted 07-28-2010 12:50 PM                        Back to the iPhone 4: I called Apple support today to register an official complaint about the proximity detection issue. The tech was very familiar with that complaint. Their official response is "we're aware of the problem and still trying to determine whether it's hardware, software, or a combination of both". They offered to swap my phone out but with no assurance that would fix the specific problem. At least I have a case number and it's in the record that I complained about this. The rep was very courteous and, as a bonus I think English was his native language. Separately, I see iOS 4.1 is in beta. There are mixed anecdotal reports as to whether it addresses or fixes the proximity detection issue. On the plus side, my iPhone 4 battery seems to hold up much better than the EVO battery. It does not come with 2.2, but does do voice dialing. The major thing that 2.2 will have is the ability to see Flash content. As far as the phone's functionality it is super easy to use, and Verizon is a much better network than AT&T. Plus Google has some pretty neat stuff, like Goggles. I had a BB Bold and my Dad had an iPhone 3G. We both are very happy with the Droid X As far as a Death Grip, I haven't found it.
